I am still considered a newbie in my photography skills, well, seemingly previously I bought my Nikon D40 all for the sake of travelling to Perth, Australia and since my old compact camera (Casio Exilim Z750) is giving me problems with itβs blurry shots (in the first year this camera was awesome, pictures are clear).
Now what is the deal here?? Yes, haven’t been checking my flickr account previously but then I just realized that I had an email in my inbox. Here’s the email!

Well, sort of. Though I know I am still a newbie that time. Been hanging out with other people these days to get that good photos. Manual mode is indeed mesmerizing. Well these photos I’ve posted in this blog somewhere around here
and also in this instant too. If you haven’t seen them, it was my trip to Perth.
Now this has generally created a small boost for me. So what am I going to get next?
SB600 vs SB800
Which should I get? I prefer speedlights over lenses for now. Yes, I only have my kit lense only! Dang, I really need to save! People I need opinions. Badly…
Hi Hi, nice to drop by your site.
I am also a newbie to SLR. But I am using Canon while you in Nikon.
I got myself Canon most powerful flash – 580 EXII. It is very powerful but heavy.
Choose your SLR gears wisely. Else you will end up wasting a lot of money buying those poor quality lens or flash. π
wei wei wei.. u didnt mention WHICH photo.. how can we know? cis…. π Anyway, dont know bout the flash flash thingy, still noob. π
Woah! so high tech wan.
fuyoh, congrats wor… belanja makan la wei! lol
choose the more economical one, if it’s not too bad… then only buy better lenses
Heyz,
Get what you need, the SB 800 has higher power and also commander mode for wireless flash (to use Nikon’s CSL whereas the SB 600 will just work as a slave..that is if you want to do wireless flash to begin with).
Apart from that, it will be the recycle times (SB 800 faster of course) and also the weight and size (SB 800 is bigger than SB 600).
Either one will make a huge difference to your photography experience π
if you having more night outing, you should own a good flash, for me, i will but battery grip 1st.
by the way, my Nikn D80 still not yet come, and the seller today call me giv me a choice, previously the kits set with 18-135 lens, but now seller said if i add more RM300, upgrade to tamron lens 18-200… how you feel…worth not?
Weeeee… We are the kit lens user! But you’re gonna leave me liao. =P
Jayce,
Thanks for the advise. Yeap, after consulting some people, getting a Speedlight is better than getting an additional lens first.
angeline,
huh?? it’s there. Maybe I should just display it out!
AceOne118,
not really man…
Ichitaka,
I think you recommending me the most expensive way!! =.=”
dylan,
your point makes a great difference for me. Looks like it’s SB800.
iCalvyn,
True.. the flash isn’t that strong and I get darker shots at the people at the back. I find that if you get the 18-200 lens, there’s no need for you to have the kits lens. Next time got D80 wheee… let me try ya!!
SilverIsle,
I will still be using the kit lens. It’s only the flash light I am getting π
take the high end sb800. no regret!
