Looks like it’s time to alert many people. Earlier while I was working in the office around 7:10pm, most of my colleagues said they felt tremors and feels like the building is shaking. Unbeknownst to us, it seems that there really is an earthquake.
Here’s the latest news!
|KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a tsunami alert after a powerful earthquake struck off Sumatra, Indonesia at 7.10pm.The department has advised people in the northern states of Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Penang to move away from beaches as a safety precaution.Tremors were felt in parts of the west coast of peninsular Malaysia when the quake struck.
It was centered at 105 km southwest of Bengkulu, Sumatra and 718km southwest of Johor Bahru, at a depth of 15.6km.
Malaysian is adequately equipped to detect a tsunami and issue a warning within an hour before it reaches the shore.
So hope those that are in Penang, Perlis and Kedah, take care as it’s predicted time around 0100 Malaysian time. An emergency evacuation will be announced if there is. For those ShoutOut members, especially those in Bt Feringghi, Tg Bungah, Tg Tokong and other parts of the island near the coastal area, heed the warnings.
I don’t want another Tsunami to happen again like it did the last time where everyone was not really aware.
Edit : It seems the earthquake is now recorded at a high 8.4Magnitude! Too many earthquakes happenings.
