Lee Sinje in Mid Valley

Posted by danielctw On February - 26 - 2009

It so happens that I was in Mid Valley during that day, and then I noticed a very large amount of crowd there. To my delight, I saw none other than Lee Sinje on the stage. Well, what more, take out my trusted D40 and proceed to shoot, though I wasted 15 minutes of it as I forgotten that I left my memory card in the other bag and it’s in the car.

Nevertheless, Lee Sinje is one moment never to be missed. How about some photos.

Lee Sin Je Top View

Taken away from the crowd, this shot was shot at the floor above the center court. If you’re wondering, she’s here as an ambassador for SK-II to unveil some mystery bottle. Who is she? She’s the main actress for the movie “The Eye“.

The Eye Scene
One of the scenes from the movie “The Eye“.

Also known as Angelica Lee, Sinje has been the face of SKII. So I was there to capture some facial expressions of her for mementos. Well, not everytime you get to meet a celebrity don’t we. Especially when you’re not one of the upper ups.

Angelica Lee Sin Je Expressions

She has changed from the previous longer hair into a shorter hair but she’s still top notch. It wasn’t easy capturing these shots since I wasn’t with the Media team that are hording the front row, and for me to rely on my 55-200mm VR lens to capture these shots.

Just so happens I got one close shot while she was walking towards my way.

Lee Sin Je Close up

The only shot I have. No flash, so have to make do with it. Now wouldn’t it be nice if I have the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens. Lee Sinje~~~~~ now you wonder SKII really work wonders for one’s skin. Smooth~~~~

ps : Temporary filler for my next upcoming post :D

Food Bloggers Makan Session

Posted by danielctw On February - 22 - 2009

A few days ago, I had an invitation to attend this early makan session with the foodies or what most people refer them as food bloggers. Well, I enjoy food as well, and it sure was great to have this great company of people.

All in all, there are a number of Malaysian foodies which attended this ‘makan’ ala eating session initiated by TheQguides.com and what a better place to do it at Carlsberg, Shah Alam who is one of their partners. Hmm.. what actually interest me to go for this event was the courtesy of the staffs in TheQguides and also the unlimited beer.

Daniel Greeted By QGuides
If I am not mistaken, this is Alex.

I first went in and saw, wow nice place for a gathering. I was greeted by a few member of the staffs of TheQguides and had a chat to get to know the team. Well, it was worth it. At least it was good that they are efficient in their people handling. Then I was thinking, now where’s the food you guys promised me. Instead they got me this.

Carlsberg

Then if it wasn’t enough, they got me this too.

Carlsberg Gold
Carlsberg Gold

The intoxification of these to get us into a feeling that whatever they say, we will concur. Not really. They’re a bunch of nice people with a taste for beer.

Of course, how can you call this a food blogger gathering without food. So on with the food and yes the rumbling of the stomach.

Food Display

Hmm.. local Malaysia dishes. Local but still fit to eat.

Eating Session

I give my thumbs up. Look at all of us go at the food. Oh that’s Wilson and Jason over there, fellow bloggers.

The after our feast, Jek Tan, co-founder of TheQguides.com, gave a presentation about what does the team plan to achieve and more about them. They really have an interesting concept.

Upcoming features of TheQguides.com are what every food crazy people would do *okay not everyone but mostly, errr me…* That’s because I get to make table reservations online and even get rewarded for dining out * This is the obvious plus point, you get rewarded just because you ate* . I think what every food finders, bloggers would do is to look at a site to find a certain review on food, and that’s what their food portal is all about too.

I believe it’s a great idea. Now to psyche those people’s brain and what better people to do it then the man himself, Jek Tan.

Jek Tan Positive

We Can Do It!!! I believe we can! See the enthusiasm of this guy.

Now how can I forget Carlsberg that provided us with unlimited beer, shandy and other liquor from the same brand. To top it off, a Liverpool fan is always a Liverpool fan and what more the sponsor of such a club. (What’s that supposed to mean??)

Finally a pose from the bloggers.

What about the rest of the team. Bloggers with TheQguides.com team.

We just love our Carlsberg goodie bag, don’t we? Alright maybe because I look exceptionally well in this photo.

I’m Going Kame Hame Ha with Dragonball Evolution

Posted by danielctw On February - 19 - 2009

Small Talk

How can someone ask someone to step down due to their photos being circulated on the Internet when it’s not her fault. That person needs to step down instead.

..

Just so happens that I haven’t cut my hair and was thinking of cutting it this week. Looks like I can delay it a little bit longer. What more, Nuffnang has once again done us bloggers a favor. A chance to win yourself a pair of tickets to the Dragonball Evolution premiere screening.

But then, what was I thinking about, how can someone ordinary like me transform and do something like Son Goku in Dragonball. Alright I was a fan of this manga way back when I was in primary school years. That explains how long ago it was.

See the plain me….

I shall be what my first manga hero be, and this shall be my stance to take me towards the KAME HAME HA premiere screening of Dragonball Evolution.

As fans of Dragonball Z, yellow hair means Super Saiyan. You won’t get anywhere near it with my black asian hair. Now that doesn’t stop Super Saiya Daniel Chew.

Kame Hame Ha

KAME HAME~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Feel the force of my KAME HAME HA, till it breaks out of the frame.

ps: I know my post processing of photos is flawed, but it does the job

pss: I spent too much time editing…

The original photo. Darn, yes, that’s really my hair, I just added color. Even the uniform. So can I have my Dragonball Screening. Hehehe…

Little Vietnam Not So Little

Posted by danielctw On February - 13 - 2009

Small Talk
Valentine’s Day is just an excuse for Business Owners to earn more $$$$$$. Don’t you think so?

..

Haven’t been food hunting for awhile ever since I hardly contact the food hunters, so thus it’s time for me to start moving about and start finding some stuffs to eat. So then off I go to Little Vietnam, situated in Mid Valley megamall. Oh? Little Vietnam, I thought there was only Little Taiwan there at first. Now there is an eatery called Little Vietnam.

Little Vietnam

Most of my gatherings in Mid Valley is usually held at Little Penang. *huh??? Little again???* ( I am starting to think that these three are related, well maybe they are, but what the heck, let’s get back to Little Vietnam) So then, being in Little Vietnam, I was expecting Vietnamese ladies being the waitress there, and somehow they do look authentically Vietnamese. Well, good impression. So off to some Vietnamese cuisine.

When I first step into the restaurant, okay, maybe it’s rare that I go into a Vietname restaurant, I thought I could just imagine the Vietnam feeling. That I thought I was welcomed to Vietnam itself.

Welcome To Vietnam
A little Over Exaggerated Kind of Feeling

As always, Vietnamese dishes reminds me of Beef, (don’t know why), so I proceeded to get my Vietnamese Beef dish.

Vietnam Beef Rice

Not the best of picture, but it’ll do. Not one to complaint since I was practically hungry when I finally found a place to sit down and have some food. Another 2 ordered something else, and somehow I felt that maybe I need another dish.

Curry Chicken Rice

The Curry Chicken Rice with some Lemon Grass seems spicy enough. Though maybe not for those who are afraid of the amount of oil on the curry. Weird, how come there’s a curry chicken rice, why even order this? I thought vermicelli is one of the key dishes in a Vietnamese cuisine. Of course it is, just that most of us are too hungry. So that also concludes the last final food.

Vietnamese Fried Rice

Of all the dishes, I think I love this the best. Maybe because it’s the most presentable one. Chicken Strips Fried Rice. Not bad of all the rice dish.

Conclusion, if you’re a big eater, you will never have enough if you were to order just one main dish. Due to the size of it. Of course, I could eat 2 Carl’s Junior burger, so maybe I can’t compare to how big is big. For the price, rice dishes cost about RM9.90 till RM18. I might even go back there to try the vermicelli dishes.

If you still can’t find this place, here’s the exact location.

Located on the highest floor of Midvalley (same floor with GSC Midvalley)
3rd floor, just a few walk away from GSC Cinema @ Mid Valley Megamall

Back With a Pow

Posted by danielctw On February - 6 - 2009

Small Talk
The Chinese are back to work this week, or rather gamble in the office

Back with a pow, ang pow, hung pow, or rather Kung Pow?? Well, it seems the title is a bit misleading, well for starters I am still in the Chinese New Year mood and what a way to like celebrate this New Year with a kick at the cow/bull/ox luck to bring me good fortune and health and errr… a new camera body and also happiness.

Yes, been in a lot of complicated things these few days and I guessed it shouldn’t be an excuse for me being absent in the blogosphere. Hmm.. that’ll be 2 weeks. Thus I have to make do with loss times and what better day to do it then today. Oh a few days back before the whole auspicious Chinese New Year day arrived, I had to listen to Chinese Orchestra. Well, then perhaps my eyes was fixed to a certain player there. Hehehe…

Chinese Orchestra

Well, red border for the mood. So there are 5 of them but which one caught my eye. Let’s narrow it down to 2 of them.

Er Hu and Chinese String

So which one? By the way, no prize will be given for those who guessed correctly. Besides this isn’t even a competition. Yes, the sound of the chinese orchestra. Oh by the way, who can identify the 2 instruments they are playing. I only know one of them. The only thing though that will be missing is if someone doesn’t learn to play the instruments, in the coming future, there will be no more of these musicians. Okay, enough of the orchestra feel but officially I haven’t actually welcomed the visitors of Weird Weird Denial officially with a proper welcome. Yup, the previous one was just a super short summary and felt it wouldn’t be more of a post.

Somehow I don’t really know if this is the year of the Bull, Ox or Cow since the chinese pronounciation is ‘niu’ which can also mean COW. I thought why not do something different every year and since this is the year of the Ox/Bull/Cow year, I need to find a cow to pose with. Though most of them usually ended up on the butcher’s table. Pretty darn hard to find one live cow in the city.

Hopefully though that I don’t go running into one of those cows that suddenly wanted to fight me, that I have to give my best to stay alive.

Danielctw Kung Pow

The Mark of Year 2009 – The Day Daniel Kicks The Cow To Get His ‘Ong‘.  Now what more can I say, I felt this year, lesser Ang Pows (economy bad), more questions and queries from relatives regarding ‘when you gonna get married and give angpow’ and more sleep required. Chinese New Year is much more special this year though, cause I finally got myself something to wear this year. Would like to look more traditional and this is the only piece I got.

Once again, wished everyone here A Happy Chinese New Year 2009, get your Ang Pows, Health, Wealth and Prosperity. So I am signing off, with a Gong Hei Gong Hei Fatt Choy!!!

Gung Hei Fatt Choy

My hair was done on purpose to look traditional. Duh…..
