The MCO or the effects of the Covid-19 in the country, you will usually stay at home and wonder where can I travel in the future next. Maybe perhaps not for everyone but that is what I wonder most of the time. It is why it is so important to service your Aircon periodically. Days at home can be so hot, sometimes very cold (I can stand the cold though, but it’s the heat that irritates me mainly). That is when I need the aircon / air conditioner the most.
Little did I know, after most of the travel I did previously and also the hot and humid country we are in, the aircond seems to not be as cold as it used to. Time to service your aircon. Time for some manual cleaning of the filters.
I believe most of you would know what to do with aircond filters, but here is me doing this.
This is simple and easy and usually works most of the time when the air-conditioner is not cold at all. But what if it did not solve the problem? I even tried to DIY when I found out that it is also leaking water. Though of course I could have just skipped all these manual labor by getting the experts and perhaps they can do this in very short duration.
Let me inform you the scenario that have happened to me.
Service Your Aircon, it’s Leaking
Just 6 months ago, my aircond was leaking. Searching the old YouTube, it mentioned that the pipe could be stuck. All one needs to do is to unclogged it either by disassemble the front part of the air conditioner or from the outside where the water outlet is.
Option 1: Fix it myself
Definitely not my choice. I would just lie down outside on the grass. Imagine service your aircon or just doing what you would love to do.
Choice 2: Get an Expert
As the issue would involved aircon service and aircon cleaning, perhaps it will be better to get an aircon service provider to assist. The pros is that all can be done by an expert and then I would not risk damaging my own aircon when doing on my own. Confirmed that the tools they used are meant for aircon.
Conclusion: What Did I Do?
I went traveling and off I go for snorkeling. I WISH~~~ Anyway.
I would have gone for choice 2, if it did not fall on the enhanced MCO (movement control order) period. Since it was eMCO, I manually cleaned the aircond using a cloth and prepared a pail for future leaks. As time goes by the leaking stopped. Of course, this is not a solution but MCO have stopped me from employing any aircond expert back then.
One such service is DrAir, located in Cheras. I could have just paid RM180 and they would have clean and service my 1.0 HP wall mounted aircond. All in just a few minutes. What would have took me like few hours, would have been just a few minutes work.
Those time that I have spent could just be used elsewhere. My motto in life is always to make use of the time on the things we should be doing. I guessed I do not have the expertise, so it’s better to hire and expert.
The same way, if you need a web developer or a travel blog person with a knack of taking travel photos, you know who to call.
Closure
I will end this with a word of advice. Always get an expert if one is unsure. If you would like to learn the trade, it is best to see what the expert do first before getting involved yourself.
