Restaurants in Memphis

For those that have been following my travel plans around USA, which includes Hawaii and also Galveston. This time let us have a look at Memphis, which basically is a city in Tennessee. Memphis is a city on the Mississippi River in southwest Tennessee.

3 Recommended BBQ Restaurants in Memphis

Cut the story short, here are the 3 recommended BBQ Restaurants in Memphis.

Payne’s BAR-B-Q

Restaurants in Memphis Payne's

This place is known for it’s amazing pork BBQ. This place is managed well by the owner and family members. One of their famous food is their pork sandwich which is known well among the locals.

Their place is still a little shabby but other than that, the food and service here is top class. As of date of writing, they do accept credit card as another means of payment other than cash.

Charlie Vergos Rendezvous

Known commonly as The Rendezvous, this place has a history as it’s started by Charlie Vergos in 1948 in his basement. It began from the then ham-and-cheese sandwiches to the now famous pork ribs of Charlie Vergos Rendezvous.

This place is so good, the queue is also long. Sometimes the queue could even be an hour of waiting time. The restaurant is huge, with decades of funky decorations tacked to the walls, and do enjoy the excellent service.

Do note to order the ribs as they are mentioned many times by frequent diners. A recommended dish would be the Pork Ribs and Shoulder Combination which cost around $22 (as of time of writing).

Another thing about Rendezvous, is that they also do offer online purchase as they have their own online store. This is convenient for the public to enjoy the ribs elsewhere if there is a big crowd and for those not so mobile.

Fancy some beef brisket? Then Central BBQ in Summer Avenue is one of the most recommended places to have them. Central BBQ is a very large venue which is very popular with both tourists and locals.

For those that usually does day tour, this location is on the list. Their menu consist of beef, chicken, pork (basically the basic 3 meat) and turkey. Recommended food, as with most BBQ restaurants would be the ribs and the beef brisket. The portion and the sauce is proportionately good.

You would not miss the logo of this BBQ restaurant as it has a very dignified big photo of a pig as the main part of the logo.
