A month to Mt Kinabalu

Posted by danielctw On March - 2 - 2008

I can’t wait for the next trip. Yes, the following month, I can finally be on my way to climb the highest peak in South East Asia. It’s at Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia. Though I think this won’t be the end of my sudden rush of outings and trips and even holidays.

Based on my research on Mount Kinabalu according to WikiTravels, one can go to the top of Low’s Peak which is about 4,095.2m above sea level but the height of the mountain is often given as 4,101m. Well, I guessed certain things I really do need to prepare which is in this case, gloves, thick shirts and maybe a ski mask. It’s bound to be cold there. More so, my parents has been up to Mt Kinabalu and I haven’t.

The trip takes up about 6 days and because it’s cheap for the amount of days traveling there, well.. I will take it. Well, getting cheap holidays package is what I would want to find. Roughly estimated around RM1k inclusive of flight tickets. For 6days and 5nights with extras of white water rafting, Island visits, hot spring and 1 day free and easy, it’s definitely worth it.

Ehh.. that reminds me, I am going to organize a trip to Bali somewhere around August. Well, so far I have 3 persons confirmed going on that day. Well, I hate last minute confirmation for this trip though as it’s not going to wait. The longer you wait, the space will become full. Well, why am I the organizer? I am thinking of going into the travel industry sometime in the future, so I need support.

There are people who asked me, do you prefer island trips or land trips, I prefer islands. Well, that explains why I always go to Redang Island yearly. :D

Penang Sightseeing

Posted by danielctw On January - 30 - 2008

Pictures are coming. Looks like it’s the first Penang Trip of the year. Yes, 3 guys from KL went all the way up to Penang. The same 3 that went for the ShoutOut Penang BBQ just a month ago. We’re just always going up Penang eh…

KL Guys up To Penang
From left : FireWire, ME & Aaron

Mind me, as we are coming from South, so henceforth the Southern Trio. Okay, we’re not a triad or anything okay, just so happen that the three of us are free once again to go up Penang and have some fun meeting the rest in Penang, Pearl of the Orient.

This time going up to Penang is more than just meet up, we have come to a conclusion that there should be more sightseeing and more food hunting, so off we go to certain places, where I try to capture some of the scenic views in Penang. Well, too bad my camera battery’s gone dead on me or there will be like lots more photos to play around.

Asia Cafe Air Itam Penang

Asia Cafe in Air Itam was where I had my first Penang dim sum. Well, it was indeed fun, get to eat food and thanks to JJzai for bringing us out for breakfast. Really appreciate all your troubles. Even Kuey Zhap and also the loklok (satay celup [dip])
Monument Penang

Other than just eating, we went sightseeing, here’s the monument near Padang Tembak (Shooting Field) where there’s a memorial for all the war dudes. Penang has it’s history which is also a reknowned island during it’s glory days.

Bukit Tabur Year End Climb

Posted by danielctw On December - 19 - 2007

So think of climbing the hills once again. Yes, I went up to Tabur Hills or Bukit Tabur. This time bringing a group of 3 guys and 3 girls. Well, include me then it’s 4 guys and 3 girls. Haha… what can I say about this trip? Well, they’re all beginners and never had any experience climbing up a hill, well one said they climbed once on this hill but only half way.

Well, what’s so special about this Tabur Hills a.k.a Bukit Tabur? I am sure many of you know that it’s a quartz hill that is scalable and needs usage of hands to do it.

Be warned though, if you don’t want to get your legs and hand scarred, get a glove and it’s funny, looking at the group I brought having difficulties scaling down the slope using the rope. Well, I even need to offer my knee to one of them. Anyway best you people take a look at the photos instead.

Bukit Tabur Over The Lake

I can see the dam and the water contained in it. Fuiyoh, shocking. Imagine falling down from here. Hehehe… well Tabur Hills is indeed worth the climb up till 6 hours the longest journey I had. Though I did finished it in 2 hours before.

Mouse Law with Fake Climb Up Rock

LOL!!! OK, this is fake, even the expression is fake. It’s not as taxing as that, but you really do need to use hands. Well, want to know how tough, just carry on looking.

Way Down Bukit Tabur

Yes, it was a climb to remember and yes, we went for Tom Yam after that. Well, I can still organize another trip and if you want to climb too, just drop me a line or a message. :) Last but not least, enjoy the rope short movie clip below.

Edit : Movie clip not loading from YouTube so stay tune for the video update later.

Cheap Hotels in Perth

Posted by danielctw On December - 7 - 2007

Looks like after the Summer in Perth, it’s going to be Autumn. Another time for me to visit that city in Australia once more. Hmm…. Though this time I am going to come prepared. Definitely got to look for a better City Guide and most probably a Hotel Guide.

Not that I don’t want to visit other countries and states but just that it wasn’t fun enough when I went on a tour last time. I prefer Free & Easy. Of course, one of the main issues is budget. Finding a hotel, for a hotel like Grand Chancellor Perth, I am still comparing it even though it was supposed to be cheap. I still miss Kings Park and I found that it’s a beautiful scenery there at night. So off my camera goes! *shoot shoot shoot*

Beautiful Scenery in Kings Park

Though some precautions need to be taken care of while searching for nightlife in Perth. Especially in Northbridge. Just don’t stay too late. Well, who knows who I might bump into next time.

Well, when one is in Perth or anywhere in Australia, a must visit to the native animals which are the kangaroos, wallabies and wombat. Anyway if any of you have any other hotels to recommend other than Grand Chancellor Hotel, please help me recommend one. I wouldn’t know because I haven’t stayed in other hotels before other than Mercure Hotel. You can visit other hotels list here too.

Perth IV – Finale

Posted by danielctw On September - 16 - 2007

Cavernsham WildLife

Here are the other Perth Travel Logs

Perth Part I – Clouds
Perth Part II – Journey
Perth Part III – Park

Looks like another final installment. Yes!!! There are still people who can’t get enough of it. So… here’s the final post. Who wanted to see the Tazmanian Devil. Hmm.. too bad I can’t get a close shot of it. Need a VR 200mm lens. So I need sponsors. One way you can help me is Advertlets.

Yes!!! For those that thought the Tazmanian Devil was extinct, it’s not alright. They are still here and yes, looks like a dog to me. But only fiercer and yes…. they are fierce ok. The only picture I can get, I seriously need a zoom lense. Don’t blame me for getting a lousy shot. It’s too far away I agree. Anyway it was a bit rush but look at the next photo

Carrying a Wombat

LOL… This is a big big creature. Which actually is a rodent that lives underground and it’s super tame. Yes… the Wombat is really cute it loves to hug it’s keeper. Wombat Wombat Wombat!! I should create my logo based on Wombat. Feels nice. haha..

Emu

What the??? An emu this close? Haha… I think this is more common to be seen elsewhere, but then I don’t want this Emu to be left out.

So you’ve seen some of the wildlife, yes, the Tazmanian Devil is finally revealed. Though it doesn’t laugh like a hyena. All this makes me hungry. I should seriously eat. Must camwhore a little bit ok. No one misses me at all???

Dinner Pose

Oh yeah… I realized I can still do the peace sign pose. It’s rare to shoot this kind of photo since a very long time. Got this shot from one of my colleagues. Oh… I just have to end this post once again, with a pose that some people are bound to ask, why you so lansi. Haha!! I can’t help it ok, I love to act serious and cool.

Lansi Pose

Haha!!! I know I know, you are so gonna kill me right? Everyone’s so carefree while I look the pose to be “lan si”(Arrogant and cool, for those needed English translation). So this is indeed the final fixture of my Perth entry. Though I can continue to post more about it, if there was a request made. So anymore Australia photos you need to see, do comment here. If the responses are not much, then I consider this the final post for Perth. Besides don’t wanna bore you all for looking at shots that aren’t interesting right? :P

So danielctw signing off now. It’s 3:27am…
