Cinya Suffer SCKLM Run 21KM

Posted by danielctw On July - 27 - 2010

I still remember the run like it was a few weeks back. I was practically having high expectations of myself and I think I had it too high. Why? It’s the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010, and I am only running the half marathon category. That’s 21km to those who don’t do running.

Clock Tower

I was there about 5:45am as my run starts at 6:15am or is it 6:30am, nevertheless I wasn’t at all prepared properly for this run. This is all due to my laziness and complacency of my own. Well, then at least I found out the hard way.

Before the Run

Before the run, I was full of confidence. Practically it was a mistake.

I was practically forcing myself to finally run non stop for the longest I did. Due to what I’ve experienced last year, I was pushing myself to run continuously for at least 10km. Well, target was achieved and I went 1.5km further until I finally felt that I had better stop and give myself some rest. Rest I did, that I took another 1 hour to finish the next 10km.

Exhausted Run

Practically I was way exhausted than normal. Never had I felt that way. I was afraid that I might collapse anytime after the 12km stage. I kept pushing myself too hard and felt that it’s all in the mind. Little did I know that sometimes if your body can’t take it, don’t overdo it too much.

Cinya Tired Sitting Down

Darn tired, I sat down on the pavement after the whole run feeling way exhausted that I can’t bring myself to get up and walk. I didn’t care if I sat with my legs wide open. All I wanted was to sleep there and then. Scary when I thought of it now.

DanielCtw Suffer Holding Umbrella

I really was suffering much. I have to support myself with an umbrella. I felt like if there weren’t this umbrella to support me, I will surely fall down all of a sudden. You know during this time, I am cinya lucky to have a friend running and traveling with me.

FireWire and DanielCtw

FireWire and DanielCtw

Me still trying to maintain coolness when posing. FireWire ran the 10km run and practically I have to thank him for driving me back later after the run. If not I am not sure whether I could drive back home then.

Second person that helped motivated me to push to the finish line was Princess Yen. Thank you dear for cheering me on that day.

Exhausted but happy shot with Princess Yen

I am happy I finished the run. Thanks for your support that motivated me. Look at my hand that’s still holding the umbrella. No matter what, I am still happy and my enthusiasm to run will not stop.

Orange Run 2010 is the latest run that I’ve just ran. Well, that’ll be another report. Until then, I’ll make sure I get myself up and ready for the 2011 SCKLM Run next year.

Here’s my timing and record.

This years timing is worse than my previous year.

Pace: 6.36min/km
Time: 2’49’21
Total Climb: 442m

Update: Anyway went to check SCKL Marathon’s official website here at
http://www.kl-marathon.com/reports/check_race_time and here are my results.

Rank: 1286
Gun Time: 02:51:05
Net Time: 02:48:43
Split Time: 01:03:47 (Not sure whether at 11km or 10km mark?)

Here’s to those who runs too. May we enjoy running and staying healthy.

Jog Training 4.9km Taman Melawati

Posted by danielctw On April - 12 - 2010

Good day to all readers of DanielCtw.com, it seems that the day is drawing nearer for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 and this is when Daniel is practicing and running to get himself into shape for the upcoming 21km running event he registered. Aside from that, there’s the 15km  New Balance Pacesetters Run at Lake Gardens.

So here are the current track which he does train when he’s back early or on weekends with a rough total of 5km, google didn’t connect one of the roads. If not it’ll be about 4.9km. Currently map shows only 4.6km. This map is around Taman Melawati which is good for a run due to many trees around the area.

It was tiring but it sure makes me felt like I have done a great thing. My legs are aching after the run on Saturday and even though it’s only a test run, with a time of 32 minutes on a rough 5km track, it’s a start. Wonder whether I can actually break 60 minutes for a 10km run. My fastest so far is a 63 minutes on a 10km run.

Determined, I guessed with more training, it’s possible. Will be running again on Tuesday, anyone who’s staying there wanna run together? Will post upcoming results on this blog too, since it’s a personal one albeit a photo blog too.

Face like Crap Running a 12KM Race

Posted by danielctw On January - 4 - 2010

So yes, the results are out. The news is also out as to how I fare and my observation of the course. Now to show some pictures of how suffering is the track in this race. All pictures are courtesy of photographers and volunteers of this running Saucony 12km Network Race 2010.

Daniel Chew During The Kick Start

The picture wasn’t focused on me. This photographer takes the pink shorts chick instead of the red shorts hunk guy. Well, girls are more appealing right? But then maybe I was proven wrong. Look at the next picture.

DanielCtw Concentrate on Running

I am very clear. Maybe it was wrongly focused but finally I got my cool face posted up there. Seems like no sweat, and easy, until they have to publish my clear exhausted face on the Internet.

Suffering Running Face

I would really love this photo if my expression wasn’t like going to faint like that. The photo is splendidly sharp and, yes, it’s still the first lap I think. Now who said I don’t have muscles? All those leg exercise really paid off.

What I felt that made me lose my momentum in this 12km run was the dreaded stairs. What stairs? Look at the following series.

Crazy Run Lake Garden Stairs

Now you wonder how damn high it was. 230 steps? or was it 300 steps. These photos can basically summarize how this race is and how suffering it was. Correction : 170 steps… corrected by Mr Chin Ann.

By the way, photos are courtesy of  fook79

More photos are on the way, if any photos are still out there and you see them, do inform me. Would love to keep track of my run.

Saucony Pacemakers Network Run 2010 Simply Tired

Posted by danielctw On January - 2 - 2010

First off HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 to all readers of Weird Weird Denial. Yes, remember I did say that I would get myself fit for the NEW YEAR RUN which is about 12km and boy, I think I didn’t do that. Nevertheless, I still went to the run and thought that it is just 12km, how hard can it get? Until… I ran the track. I didn’t expect stairs.

3 months after registering for this race, I only had one training which is a non-stop 5km. Then I slept like 2:30am the night before the race. Imagine having 3 hours of sleep and off to the run. It might be dangerous for me too, who knows I might collapse while running “touch wood“. Facing the fact that I am not getting any younger, I think I should actually start doing some training.

The people joining there were magnificent. My goal on the race was fairly simple, TO FINISH THE RACE and from then onwards to motivate myself to start running actively again. I haven’t been joining any race these past few months. Then the results came out.

Saucony Race Results M17-29

Saucony Race Results M17-29

Good first lap and second lap, until the 3rd and final lap, I was practically like, What the heck, I am so slow. *cries in agony* It looks like the result tells me something, never to sleep so late and make sure do your training before any run. Though of course, I did get the COOL finisher medal which was what I was aiming for before the start of the run. A timing of 1:35:28 is way off my personal best of 1:20:56 of my 12km run. CRAPS

To catch more of the action of this run, do visit more on runwitme.blogspot.com and PM1.blogspot.com for more pictures and videos about this run. I will end with a video. Don’t know whether anyone could spot me though.

*hint* : I am the one in the RED shorts.

ps : Anyone wants to do the next run? Night run at Putrajaya!!!!

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION : Run below 20minutes consistently in one lap

Practice Run 5km Taman Melawati

Posted by danielctw On November - 27 - 2009

Super tired. Super super tired. Why so tired? That’s why la~~~ Go to China, then come back then no train. Then after that just sit at home sleeping or watching tv or go online all the time. Then suddenly today in the morning around 7am go out jog non-stop for 5km. Anyone also will get tired by doing this!

Yes, that was what I did! I was woken up this morning by FireWire who came over to Taman Melawati to have a stamina training run non-stop. Well, for someone like me who does so little training before a run, I think it’s better someone to pace along with you. While jogging, I started to feel so ‘sam fu’/xing ku’ breathless and can’t really continue on. What is with all the uphill and downhill? But I persevered cause didn’t want to just give up halfway. Initial plan was to run 10km non-stop but seeing the bright sunshine came out (Woo hoo) I finally can rest and stopped at the 5km mark. Well, looks like a lot of training need to be done once again.

I still remembered my first run which was like March 2009 and I can’t even last 1km. We usually remember our first run. Of course not counting my Jogathon years in Secondary School. So what time did I get for this stamina jog?

5km – 37’06.56

5km route taman melawati

Darn slow. Here’s the route though for those who is interested to run along. Why not contact me at my email or use the contact form.
