Prawns of Disctrict 9

Posted by Daniel Chew On August - 13 - 2009

Coming from a weird kind of attitude and being weird in self, I find that I got myself kinda intrigue to this new movie from Sony Pictures and produced by Neil Blomkamp. Yes, the movie I am talking about is DISCTRICT 9 and after watching it on Premier screening time last night at the Cathay Cineplex Damansara at Cineleisure (thanks to Nuffnang and Sony Pictures), I must say I do find it impressive that I felt that I have to write a review and my thoughts on it.

District 9 Header

Yup, I will only write my own reviews if I watched it on premier (a bit bias because if I watched it on normal screen time, why write the review? Everyone can just go watch it).Basically the name Disctrict 9 feels the same like what we’ve all grown to hear about Sector 7 or Sector 21 in the States, where there are so called alien studies going on. Funny though, this time the show didn’t really happen in the United States where all the monsters, super heroes gather, but in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. What a place to be, but all good for the plot.

Talking to Alien in District 9

For once, at least aliens don’t look like those big eyed 2 fingers thin stick kind of aliens. This time though, they look like prawns. Believe me, they call them prawns, there aren’t better name that I can conjure of though, since they really do look like prawns. I call them cute instead. The aliens here are more normal (humanoid) and seems to understand humans and not those aliens where the mission is to kill and destroy (Aliens series, Predator series).

I’m Going Kame Hame Ha with Dragonball Evolution

Posted by Daniel Chew On February - 19 - 2009

Small Talk

How can someone ask someone to step down due to their photos being circulated on the Internet when it’s not her fault. That person needs to step down instead.

..

Just so happens that I haven’t cut my hair and was thinking of cutting it this week. Looks like I can delay it a little bit longer. What more, Nuffnang has once again done us bloggers a favor. A chance to win yourself a pair of tickets to the Dragonball Evolution premiere screening.

But then, what was I thinking about, how can someone ordinary like me transform and do something like Son Goku in Dragonball. Alright I was a fan of this manga way back when I was in primary school years. That explains how long ago it was.

See the plain me….

I shall be what my first manga hero be, and this shall be my stance to take me towards the KAME HAME HA premiere screening of Dragonball Evolution.

As fans of Dragonball Z, yellow hair means Super Saiyan. You won’t get anywhere near it with my black asian hair. Now that doesn’t stop Super Saiya Daniel Chew.

Feel the force of my KAME HAME HA, till it breaks out of the frame.

ps: I know my post processing of photos is flawed, but it does the job

pss: I spent too much time editing…

Madagascar 2 Premier Passes Nuffnang

Posted by Daniel Chew On November - 9 - 2008

Oh right, before I can say anything else, I should actually thank the sponsors for this show, well, to me they are my sponsors… I’ve got the invite for the Nuffnang Madagascar 2 movie a few days ago and boy did I enjoy the movie. Also thank you someone that got me into the next line of movie passes :P . You know who you are. :)

Madagascar 2 Premier

To say the least, I was actually grateful that I got to watch this movie after my exhilarating  day in office, with so much crappy work to do. So it sure was a relief of headache and constant laughing in another night of movie, and yes… it indeed is laughable, alright…..

I am sure those who have watched the first episode was laughing about the antiques of the zoo friends, well, for me I sure did enjoy the second one as much as the first one too. Marty the Zebra, especially was entertaining. The famous one was the song “I like to Move It Move It, He likes to move it move it, We like to MOVE IT!!!!” Imagine animals all dancing to a movie and the part of the dancing lion.

In the first episode, or rather the first installment of Madagascar, the story main character revolves around the friends and barely mentioned about the penguins. Oh right, remember the penguins… XD they are back here alright and they are ready to kick some butt.

If you are a fan of cuteness, 哈哈哈!! Then I am sure a few of you would remember Mort the Lemur, the one with the cute eyes.

I Am Mort The Lemur

Well, Mort basically was more of a cameo role in here, and even though he was more of a pesky lemur. Well, don’t wanna give any spoilers so you’ve got to watch them yourself.

Well, just to touch a bit of the storyline, it revolves around the friends all are aiming to get back to New York and back to the zoo. Only to find themselves in Africa. The story also revolves around Alex the Lion who soon unfolds his past life as a lion cub in Africa. There are many twist and turn in the story, and there are also ‘mixed’ relationships happening.

One quote I love though is, “The name so nice, you need to call them twice!” Well, from this post you can see how much I thank Nuffnang and the people involved in this event a very very big thank you!!!!!

Also got to meet with other nuffies there. Well, glad to meet some familiar faces, CincauHangus, Karena and Eri Peng, YapThomas there to name a few whom I actually talked to. Also finally know who are wetwetwater, Chingy and also Robb.

ps : Bulat, when wanna go next movie?? LOL

Recent Nuffnang Mamma Mia

Posted by Daniel Chew On September - 23 - 2008

I am back from the Nuffnang Event of Mamma Mia. I must say I am impressed with the storyline of the movie premiere though I would say not many people around my age would enjoy with a reason. Why??

Amanda Seyfried mamma Mia Poster

First you’ll be looking at old actresses in sexy dresses with a mid riff top dancing and singing. Then also you’ll be seeing how young like the older actor and actresses tries to be. All this turn off the young guys. Yes, I also noted that there are many reasons why some people can’t stand it. Some of them in tinkitalks blog.

Nuffnang Mamma Mia Here I Go

Posted by Daniel Chew On September - 22 - 2008

After like waiting for the time to past, I finally got the tickets for the Nuffnang Screening event for Mamma Mia. Basically I would prefer to get tickets for this mamma mia screeening compared to the rest of them due to the musical nature of this movie and also due to the actor and actresses in it. What more there is Amanda Seyfried as what I’ve mentioned previously.

Nuffnang Confirmation

So it’s time to meet with the other bloggers. Previously didn’t really get to mingle around, now hopefully though it’s that time to meet other nuffnangers. Must say thank you to the people in Nuffnang for this.

Be sure to dance and sing to the song of Mamma Mia or any other Abba favorite songs. Yee Haa..

ps: Too bad no shouters will be there though…
