Cinya Suffer SCKLM Run 21KM

Posted by danielctw On July - 27 - 2010

I still remember the run like it was a few weeks back. I was practically having high expectations of myself and I think I had it too high. Why? It’s the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010, and I am only running the half marathon category. That’s 21km to those who don’t do running.

Clock Tower

I was there about 5:45am as my run starts at 6:15am or is it 6:30am, nevertheless I wasn’t at all prepared properly for this run. This is all due to my laziness and complacency of my own. Well, then at least I found out the hard way.

Before the Run

Before the run, I was full of confidence. Practically it was a mistake.

I was practically forcing myself to finally run non stop for the longest I did. Due to what I’ve experienced last year, I was pushing myself to run continuously for at least 10km. Well, target was achieved and I went 1.5km further until I finally felt that I had better stop and give myself some rest. Rest I did, that I took another 1 hour to finish the next 10km.

Exhausted Run

Practically I was way exhausted than normal. Never had I felt that way. I was afraid that I might collapse anytime after the 12km stage. I kept pushing myself too hard and felt that it’s all in the mind. Little did I know that sometimes if your body can’t take it, don’t overdo it too much.

Cinya Tired Sitting Down

Darn tired, I sat down on the pavement after the whole run feeling way exhausted that I can’t bring myself to get up and walk. I didn’t care if I sat with my legs wide open. All I wanted was to sleep there and then. Scary when I thought of it now.

DanielCtw Suffer Holding Umbrella

I really was suffering much. I have to support myself with an umbrella. I felt like if there weren’t this umbrella to support me, I will surely fall down all of a sudden. You know during this time, I am cinya lucky to have a friend running and traveling with me.

FireWire and DanielCtw

FireWire and DanielCtw

Me still trying to maintain coolness when posing. FireWire ran the 10km run and practically I have to thank him for driving me back later after the run. If not I am not sure whether I could drive back home then.

Second person that helped motivated me to push to the finish line was Princess Yen. Thank you dear for cheering me on that day.

Exhausted but happy shot with Princess Yen

I am happy I finished the run. Thanks for your support that motivated me. Look at my hand that’s still holding the umbrella. No matter what, I am still happy and my enthusiasm to run will not stop.

Orange Run 2010 is the latest run that I’ve just ran. Well, that’ll be another report. Until then, I’ll make sure I get myself up and ready for the 2011 SCKLM Run next year.

Here’s my timing and record.

This years timing is worse than my previous year.

Pace: 6.36min/km
Time: 2’49’21
Total Climb: 442m

Update: Anyway went to check SCKL Marathon’s official website here at
http://www.kl-marathon.com/reports/check_race_time and here are my results.

Rank: 1286
Gun Time: 02:51:05
Net Time: 02:48:43
Split Time: 01:03:47 (Not sure whether at 11km or 10km mark?)

Here’s to those who runs too. May we enjoy running and staying healthy.

Keisuke Honda’s an Inspiration

Posted by danielctw On June - 26 - 2010

Honda, the power of dreams. Well, it’s been proven. Honda is once again the one to ensure that Japan has got what it takes to go pass the group stages in the World Cup. Now that’s excellent play from Keisuke Honda.

Keisuke Honda Prepares

Being caught up with the FIFA World Cup 2010, the feeling of the whole universe watching a football game is exhilarating. That explains how lazy a person I’ve become these past few weeks to be blogging. Finally a team I am supporting (underdogs for the World Cup) has qualified and gone past the group stages. Of course if Malaysia were to qualify for World Cup, I’ll be supporting my country the whole way, but that’s not to be.

Keisuke Honda who plays for CSKA Moscow scored on the first group stage match. With the final group game playing against Denmark and with better goal difference with Denmark, team Japan needed only a draw to qualify pass the group stage. Once again, they prove it better with a marginal win of 3 – 1 against Denmark.

Honda was instrumental as was Hidetoshi Nakata during his playing days at Japan. Well, for someone who watches the previous World Cup, Nakata was the main man of Japan of the early 2000s and 1990s. Let’s hope Japan would play better as they go on to the next stage.

Honda Scores and Celebrates

The first goal was from a free kick, Tomas Sorensen couldn’t do anything, and from then onward it was a blow to the Danish team with every attack they gave, it shook the post or somehow goals didn’t connect. I guessed I will be going to Pasar Malam to get my World Cup jersey. (I’ve got no $$$ cannot buy original)

Keisuke Honda did a great job for his country. Now time for me to emulate what he’s doing or rather some part of him. I am going to run in Standard Chartered KL 21km Half Marathon on Sunday. So it’s gonna be a tough one, but let’s see. Getting prepared, I bought the things that I wanted to get myself more prep-up than usual. Here are the stuffs I got.

New Balance Equipments

New Balance shoes (30% off).                                                          New Balance socks (RM18).

SCKLM 2010

My Race Kit (Check out my number, faster go and buy your 4Ds or “ma piao”.

Some other stuff I would like to get

Waist Belt or Pouch to put my car keys, possible with a number Holder.

Most probably tomorrow I’ll be getting those things. Run is gonna start around 630am and let’s hope I better my time compared to last year’s run. Time to beat is 2:30:00. Now I can’t say I don’t have motivation to run, as I have what I needed.

Current practice schedule

700pm – 5km
700am – Park at USJ 10km
So if you’re thinking of joining me for future runs, why not take part in these runs that I’ve registered.

Shape Men’s Health Putrajaya Night Run (12km)
Penang Bride Half Marathon (21km)

Till then.

Standard Chartered KL Marathon Run 2009 Improvement

Posted by danielctw On July - 1 - 2009

Finally after almost a week absence from the world of blogging, I am back again. Well, where was I? I was busy training (hmm.. maybe once) and preparing for the just concluded Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2009 at Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka). To me it was something big for me, well, it’s my first major running event. Why so many running events suddenly and why am I taking part? That, I will leave it to next time to explain further. I mean, this is the KL run, and I’ve always dreamt of running.

I took part in the 21km Half Marathon, and I am amazed at the amount of people there. Heard there was like 2800 people for the Half Marathon. That’s a crazy amount of people though. All these while been running the 10km races and now I felt that I have the necessary capabilities to run the 21km. Here was my training regime the past 1 month before this run. 1 day of running 3km and 1 circuit run of 22km at night (a month ago). So how did I do with this inadequate training, maybe I was overconfident, but I ain’t sure I am going to beat my former record of 2 hours 56 minutes during the Circuit Run 3 at Bukit Jalil Park.

I was amazed when I ran 13km non stop and finally I went out of steam after the running to Jaya Jusco Taman Maluri. I guessed there are loads of improvement I can do in the coming races. But all in all, I am glad I finished my race beyond the 3 hour mark.

Name: DANIEL CHEW (MAS) – like I am representing Malaysia
Net Start: 06:13:01 Category: Half Marathon 21km
Net Time: 02:37:33 Position: 1084
Finish Timing: 02:37:33.45

Hmm.. okay, position 1084 doesn’t seem a nice number.Well, at times just have to live with it. Though a timing of 2’37’33 is really something I shocked myself too. Looks like now I can set myself a new target, below 2’30’00 and hopefully by next year (if I do take part again), I can achieved way below 2 hours.

Sidenote : If you would like to know your result and if you’ve participated in this race, do visit the KL Marathon Site stated here.

Of course the most important thing for this race is to finish it, thus finish it I did. I must thank firewire for helping me take photos after the race.

Else I wouldn’t be able to pose like this.

Look At The KL Marathon 2009

Or even like this…

Victory Pose After Running 21km Marathon

I’ve noticed though my legs are getting BIGGER. Don’t you think so? A sudden improvement of my old photos.

But after all this, I believe maybe it’s because I have something in common with Bruce Lee. Ya, I really mean it. Bruce Lee, don’t you believe it? Let me show you the photo.

Bruce Lee Wax

See the shoes, we both wear them YELLOW. Ho ho ho… Ahhhh… in case you’re wondering who’s the girl behind there, that’s Hannah of FlairCandy. Those from Malaysia who wants to know her, too bad, she’s from the Philippines.

So what other races next? Here are my schedule.

Siemen Run – 15km 26/7/2009
Adidas King of The Road – 21km 2/8/2009
Penang Bridge Run – 21km 22/11/2009

So see you people there, if you’re taking part.
