I am back from the Nuffnang Event of Mamma Mia. I must say I am impressed with the storyline of the movie premiere though I would say not many people around my age would enjoy with a reason. Why??

First you’ll be looking at old actresses in sexy dresses with a mid riff top dancing and singing. Then also you’ll be seeing how young like the older actor and actresses tries to be. All this turn off the young guys. Yes, I also noted that there are many reasons why some people can’t stand it. Some of them in tinkitalks blog.

Yes, what you see is real, Daniel is now able to write in Chinese…. NOT. Well, a little bit. Haha.. okay let’s look at what is in store then.

Now this is a whole new photo taking class. Not really, just a random thought that I have thought of, and since there are pictures for me to use, I would say why not.

Most of us who got their first DSLR, would go trigger happy, without understanding the 1/3 Rule, the bokeh and also many more. The skill of camwhoring also need to be practiced in order to get a proper nice shot. Well, how do one learn how to take photos with their camera.

Precisely, going out with other photographers is one of the fastest way to learn, while sharing photo taking experiences. Sometimes we shoot with our own kit lens, knowingly what we shoot there are certain configurations that needs to be set. Doing portraiture shots, the lower the F value the more blur the background is. That’s why people get portrait lens like the 50mm f1.8/f1.4/f1.2 for this purpose.

A few months ago, I was the only photographer on the stage area to use a telephoto lens instead of my kit lens during the Roxy Summer Splash 2008 event at Sunway Lagoon and people find it weird as to why I use that lens. Well, considering models will do a catwalk, getting a close up while they are walking brings out the natural feel of it. I see many others using portrait lens instead thus having to wait for the models to stop near the center to get a decent shot.

Yes, it doesn’t mean telephoto lens isn’t a great option, but I would prefer telephoto when shooting models on stage. A portrait lens would work better with stationary models that poses though. Though I think many people will beg to differ as there are many more uses and how one uses it.

A telephoto lens (in case one is not sure, are those zoom lenses. For me I own the Nikkor 55-200mm VR) is great for shooting people, animals even for macro shots if one doesn’t have a macro lens. I will usually change to a kit lens if I am shooting landscape or because I just don’t want the extra weight. =D

Though personally, you can tell when someone isn’t a frequent DSLR user if they positioned their hand like the one below.

There might be nothing wrong with the method of holding but it sure is not the standard practice. If you still don’t get it, try to figure it out or maybe some other readers will obliged to say it out.

What can I say? Indeed it was a crazy night when I first stepped onto the photoshoot event of capturing the night of the fireworks finale at Putrajaya. What is worse is actually reached there about 7:30pm and the best available place was already taken. So my expression was like “Huh??? The event’s at 10pm and the place is already full of people.”

The Story

It happened on a Friday night, I was literally waiting for time to strike 5pm so that I could meet Fattien and gang in Sri Petaling and in the end, the meetup was changed to Bandar Kinrara. That’s where I got to meet the rest of them which is AhKwong, HungWei and Eugene. So after some yamcha/dinner session it was off to Putrajaya. Darn fast right, my story is so not interesting at all.

The Shots

Nothing much to say, just enjoy the shooting. Well, that’s why you came here for right.. LOL

By the way the finale is not by Team Australia as reported on the MIFC home site, but a collaboration of fireworks show of few teams.

Arrived at 8:30am and I was standing at PICC and book my selected location. Well, since I couldn’t have a direct view, there I am instead.

It was just starting and this was the time focusing was set. The first few lights shooting from below.

At least some different colors, well, as a matter of fact, seeing that I don’t have my own remote shutter release, I decided I just have to make do with an exposure of 2 to 3 seconds shot. The next time, I will indeed get one.

The end of the show, cars are finally going out and moving back. Lucky for a few of us, we stayed back and just enjoy the view from above. Just to avoid the darn traffic.

Maybe one day we should go for more of these events. Here’s the whole group….

It seems just as if it was yesterday, when suddenly after the final paper, a whole bunch of us grew crazy and enjoyed what seems to be the likelihood of joining the working world (though now I wished I was studying)… darn…….. Well, it was fun looking back at how young and naive <— haha.. but well, we have our share of fun of cutting classes, go karaoke after classes and even having LAN gatherings to play online games together when we’re supposed to do group study together.

Those, those were the days. I wished… but well, let’s look forward to a new life.. (ya rite…… ). With all the work here and daily life routine is fixed from 9am to 5pm or 6pm. It’s like the only rest day is Saturday, which Sunday is church day.

Those days all I cared ever was to go to college, finished coursework or find answers to assignments, share answers.. hehehe.. and also to see when is the next gathering. It was all very spontaneous, finding your peers there and knowing that it was so much fun being able to errr… “kap lui“. LOL

So far so good, I’ve only got in touch with a few of my peers in college, that the most frequent met one used to work in the same company. They are my Ragnarok Online mates, always waiting for the next MVP and when’s the next drinking session. Hmm… days of overnight at houses just to finished that last minute assignment is still ever fresh.

So for those still studying, cherish the time you have with your college friends or your university friends, cause you know that after you all gone into the working life, it’ll be such a different situation, you think you didn’t enjoy much during your study time.

Well, take it from this someone who has already left college about more than 5 years already. Yes.. yes… I know some of you will say I am old… but that’s too bad

It’s 1:39am and I shall be going to bed. It’s seriously going to kill me slowly if I don’t have enough sleep. Till then, the upcoming fireworks will be up.
