Design Weirdly While Waiting

Posted by Daniel Chew On July - 1 - 2008

The next post of Redang is now finally here, oh…. wait…. it’s NOT?? Oh sorry my mistake. I am still having Post Redang Fever. Drat… Well, since I have been spending most of my time at home, wondering about the complications of life and when is my next pay coming in from, I decided to sit down and live a life of a normal IT person who loves to dwell further into the topic of Information Technology.

Well, in short, I am looking up on web designing. Well, not the average web design but one which should comply with XHTML, CSS standards instead of the evil <table>, <font> tags which isn’t Web 2.0 friendly.

Blur as to what it means, then I wouldn’t blur you further but introduce you as to what I’ve been checking on these past few days.

Proposed New Blog Design

My mind is now full of <div> tags which is making me confused. Well, hopefully it’ll be a fruitful completion of a good design. Oh by the way, I have increased the length of this blog’s content to 1024pixels, so I am sorry for those who are still in the 800×600 view, I recommend the 1024 wide view. With this add-on too, my Nuffnang ads that’s situated at the top can now occupy one space at the top without affecting the design.

I think I had enough of blabbering, time for my other projects. My dad thinks I am working and studying in the wrong field. While my mum only has this question in her mind, “So when going to introduce a girl to me”..

My response : *numb* *silent* (Silence is Golden)

So any available candidates out there for me to silence my mum.

ATTENTION

Anyway I have here A PICTURE, can you find anything WEIRD on this photo (do not count me as weird).

Something Is Wrong With This Photo

Well, I am looking forward to your comments. Who knows, what might happen in the next time (or what can one reap).

Adios….

Crazy Webhosting Dilemmas

Posted by Daniel Chew On June - 26 - 2008

Deranged Hair PullYou see, I’ve faced this common problem. I used to host my first blog on my own server or rather personal PC at home then I found out that I have timeout issues and bandwidth problems. Especially those that come in and said they are stuck and the webpage is not loading.

From then on, I decided enough is enough and moved onto a webhosting company to help me host my blog. Well, it really did saved me a lot of troubles managing the downtime and otherwise known technical issues. Especially I wouldn’t need to host on a Microsoft Server machine since I ain’t gonna use lots of Microsoft’s engine, let’s say .Net. Well, so finding the best web hosting is never going to be easy. Well, if there is a best web hosting service at all.

People like me, who is now in a financial burden after buying like lot of domains is going to face an issue too. With the limitation some of the servers giving me, I need a better dedicated server. Maybe try getting a web host that can allow multiple domains. One place I tried looking for comparisons of all the servers and hosting procedures was webhostinggeek.com. Nevertheless, I guessed it’s all personal preferences.

This ain’t your ordinary post. Well, after the downtime I had this morning, I was sure I am now on the verge of either hosting in other places, or rather giving it all up and finally move back to blogspot (though very high unlikely to do that, I love WordPress). Anyone here able to help?

Girls Have The Highest Visitors

Posted by Daniel Chew On June - 25 - 2008

My mind is in a dilemma now! Why do I think so? Simple, I was wondering in the world of blogging, if you’re writing about how boring is your life now, what you did in school, what you ate for breakfast it will be a not good enough read for most people. But you wait and wait and wait….. there’s something though regarding this kind of post in relation to guys and girls.

You see, if a GUY posted these stuffs, he’ll be deemed a crap, an emo and such an unimaginative guy who can’t think out of the box. He’ll be branded as a boring person.

Now compare it to a GIRL who’s been blogging about her everyday life, and you’ll see the amount of hits she’s generating even though topics such as those are emerging. Well, though there’s also a catch. All she needs is to show her pretty face and maybe flaunt a bit in the blog and TA-DAHHH, you’ll see constant visits to her blog. Weird isn’t it? But in a way it’s true coz I am one of those visiting LOL.

With my weird intuition it has finally made me understood as to what I should do. Now what should I choose now?

Should I become a Westerner

Or Should I become an Asian

Do you get my point right now? If you don’t please ask your friends to come visit this page and figure it out. hehehe (more visits more visits…)

ps : I need more time to modify certain settings…

Suggestions For New Blogs

Posted by Daniel Chew On June - 18 - 2008

So many people are starting to pick up blogs right now. I was beginning to wonder, looks like times have changed. I used to blog on lots of different blog till I finally ended myself here. My dad even considered to start blogging politically. Amazed… not really, I expected him to start anytime too. Well, though I wouldn’t think he would like something simple, somehow he loves to try something else which I didn’t.

So then you guessed it, he’s expecting his son to find him a blog system that I don’t use. Why though, I wonder. *sweats* “A Blog can be anything right?? Why need to find something else?”
As usual my response. Though finally I gave up and found an easier blog area for him. Asked him to try http://www.thoughts.com since the name is so easy to remember. Well, he’s gonna penned his thoughts, so why not find something similar.

I even had to do some screenshots. Oh the irony.

Thoughts Blog

Well, looks kinda simple and clean to me. Shouldn’t be a problem. But then I felt it looks like it’s starting to look more of a social networking blog instead. Take for example Friendster and Facebook. Well, that’s because from what I read on their website, one can upload photos, videos, podcasts or even chat in the forums. Well, at least there’s one function which most blog systems out there doesn’t have. The private view for friends and family.

Some Suggestions

Hmmm.. well, the link though to your blog will be for example http://www.thoughts.com/rukawachew/blog (this is mine by the way). Though I wished it could be http://rukawachew.thoughts.com.

The Star Newspaper Experience

Posted by Daniel Chew On January - 3 - 2008

I am sure some of you who knew me would roughly know what this blog is all about! Well, so that you see, it’s not everytime I get to appear in the newspaper, especially The Star. Well, so far in my whole life, I think I appeared only once before this experience on both The Sun and The Star. The Effect

Still clueless on what I am getting at?? Wai Kee or Merdurian has talked about it on her blog and I guessed everyone knows my age by now. Dang…. so much for my secrecy of my age amongst Shouters and other bloggers likewise. Anyway this was the part that was in the newspaper.

danielctw

Ya… the part where they talked about Kenny Sia was actually a one-off thingy. Well, people need examples right, so then that’s what I’m doing! It all happened a few days before Christmas that I so happened to chance upon an interview for new year resolutions. So then at first I thought why not?? I’ve been active in blogging ever since year 2003 with my first part of my blogging started in Xanga. Those days I was blogging inactively. A long way has come since year 2008.

Well, since that’s cleared, when are the other times that I appeared on Paper? It happened during year 2004. But it was for another purpose. So happened that I was part of a group posing for photographers for my graduation day. Yeah, we can say we’re the lucky ones.

Can you see me??

But since I’ve got nothing better to do and MerDurian says I look different from the MyBlogLog avatar, here’s a simple explanation. The MyBlogLog avatar was taken when I was out at Pavilion, posing for a shot, while the one taken by The Star photographer was me at my laptop doing my daily blog. :P Dressing up really can change a person’s feature :)

Big Famous Sexy Ass

Well, so now how to be famous?? Some people just can be famous with a picture of their ass and it gets people so tight up that it brings me to wonder. Too bad though I ain’t the ass kind of person. Guess life is just ain’t ass enough.

Well speaking of which… I guess this once in a lifetime opportunity doesn’t come that often for someone like me. Well, guess I can look forward to a different whole new year 2008 in here!

Me Looking at The Star Newspaper

By the way, here are the few sms-es I got from friends who found out the news first before I even knew about it.

Thank you for your kind words! :P (though angeline one’s kinda =.=”)

Angeline of huayphing.blogspot.com : I just bought the Star Today! Habislah u!
Ricky Tan of devince83.blogspot.com : Yoh dude, ur face in the star newspaper. Lol… youth section page T3.
Hon Yau, ex-secondary school classmate : Hey mr. kenny sia wannabe!Saw u and ur bro in star2. Here’s wishing u all d best in 2008 and dun forget me when u become a superstar blogger :)
