Meet the Stars at MTV World Stage 2010

Posted by Daniel Chew On July - 27 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

It’s that time of year again. The MTV World Stage 2010 is being held in Malaysia and if you’re not going for it, you wouldn’t know what you would be missing of. As mentioned, MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2010 is one of MTV’s most recognizable and eagerly anticipated events.

MTV World Stage

This global series reaches over 550 million households worldwide and features the hottest music artists performing at unique locations around the world. Now who will be showing up for this event?

We have one of my favorites, Wonder Girls.

Wonder Girls Shot

I’ve want nobody nobody but chu~~~ (you). I definitely have to do a parody on this song.

Tokio Hotel

Tokio Hotel

(Love the hairdo, too bad my hair’s not long enough to do that too.

Katy Perry.

Katy Perry in Pink

Princess Yen loves her so much. I only know one part of the lyrics in one one of the song. “Bikinis on top“.

Bunkface.

Bunkface

The Malaysian band that brought us “Through My Window“. It became viral when that song came up for the campaign Everyone Connects.

Many people tried to get passes to the events, this time I will give you clues as to how to get your hands on them. Yes yes, more passes to be won. Not from me, but ways to enable readers to get passes to the MTV World Stage 2010. There are 3 ways to get the passes. Here’s how.

You can get your exclusive money-can’t-buy passes by reloading RM50.
Type and send MTV to 28881 and wait for a confirmation.
Reload RM50 upon receiving confirmation SMS and wait for your mobile voucher.
Once you have received the mobile voucher, redeem it at the Ticket Hotline office at NO. 96B, Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. 03-77251177

Play MTV World Stage Challenges on Xpax/S.O.X./U.O.X. Facebook pages and be one of the special few who walk away with EXCLUSIVE XZone passes.

Download Call Me Tones from Channel X and stand chances to walk away with these cool prizes. More details at http://bit.ly/9vppKp

Maybe it really is hectic and troublesome for some to actually visit the pages and do those steps to get those passes, but trust me, this will be an event you wouldn’t want to miss. Who would actually? Surprisingly I have downloaded one of the caller ring tones and yes what else but my favorite.

Wonder Girls Nobody

Wonder Girls. Now if you so happened to call me and you realised I have been taking longer than usual to pick up, it’s because I wanted you people to listen to Wonder Girls. Ahaha.. well, not everyone is a korean group fan (applies to me as well), but somehow this group got me changed my view of everything Korean (dramas, bands, group, girls.. hehehe).

Of course the biggest giveaway would be for Katy Perry‘s. I definitely have to mention this.

Win Katy Perry

Seeing this, this is the chance of your lifetime to meet up with Katy Perry and also to win yourself this load of prizes. What about me, the Weird One? I would be contented with getting on stage with Wonder Girls.

DanielCtw wishes he can pose with wondergirls

Hohohoho!!! Ya right. I wished it though.

[Tibet Trip 16] Beginning the Journey to Chengdu in Jeep

Posted by Daniel Chew On July - 24 - 20102 COMMENTS

It’s time to leave Lhasa Town. Where are we going next? We’re on our way to Chengdu, basically a simple road trip with a Jeep and a driver and a guide. Now not bad. Sad to leave the town of Lhasa as we grew fond with it with each passing day. During the first few days of the trip we miss home, but as time goes by we dread to see our holidays coming to an end.

Tibet Road Trip from Jeep

This is the 16th installment of our trip in Tibet and it’s almost nearing the end with hopefully only another 2 to 3 more chapters. Then it’s time for some Bali post and other posts which have been outdated. I know I know.

[Tibet 1] Hello from Lhasa, Tibet
[Tibet 2] The Rough Journey Tibet
[Tibet 3] Another Day in Lhasa
[Tibet 4] Visiting Drepung Monastery Tibet
[Tibet 5] Monastery Visitation Tibet
[Tibet 6] Moving Around Lhasa Tibet
[Tibet 7] The Day I Visited Temples at Lhasa
[Tibet 8] Weird Blue Lake Tibet
[Tibet 9] Randomness at China and Tibet
[Tibet 10] More Monasteries and Mt Everest
[Tibet 11] Journey to Mt Everest
[Tibet 12] Journey to Namtso Lake
[Tibet 13] Namtso Lake Scene
[Tibet 14] Return to Lhasa from Mountains
[Tibet 15] Lhasa Town Free and Easy

Sunlight on Lake Out of Lhasa

No more shots of Potala Palace. No more walking around on our own in the town of Lhasa. No more going anywhere we like during the day. Ahhh, so many things we missed. The funny poses we do in the city. The kids that came to us begging for 1 Yuan or 10 cents.

Okay, there are many more memories to note, but it’s now all a memory. What better way to document it than to blog about it. Anyway, along the way we took some scenes that we felt were breathtaking even when we were in the jeep.

Reflection of Autumn Leaves

The above photo is clickable and with a width of 1280px, it’s suitable to be a wallpaper with that resolution. Of course, those using 1400px and above resolutions will have a problem with it. If you would like a higher resolution for this photo, do drop me a comment or email me at my email stated on this site. As we’re traveling during September, the leaves started to change colors and thus one gets to see the wonderful work of nature getting ready for the next upcoming season which is Winter.

Beyond Greeneries

Going through the road along the hill, the view is amazing. Basically the sky made the photos simply spectacular. It’s so hard to get skies like this in Equator bound countries. Well, couldn’t complain, each has it’s own advantages.

Milha Mountain Entrance

Time for me to appear once again. Whoa… look at this big stone of a sign. We’re now stopping for a breather after a long jeep journey at MiLha Mountain Entrance which is like 5013.25m above sea level. Shouldn’t 5000m and above be very cold, why am I dressed like that? Well, it’s different compared to the 4000m mountain we have in Malaysia though. Don’t really need to have thick clothes.

Bon Odori Festival 2010 in Shah Alam

Posted by Daniel Chew On July - 21 - 20107 COMMENTS

It’s time to see how did the Bon Odori festival 2010 held in Shah Alam went by. Well, this post actually continued from my last post, where I was at the BlupBlup event and the reason I left early was to get my ass over to Shah Alam at Matsushita Sports Complex to find a proper parking space and to attend this event.

Bon Odori is once a year and this will be my first time attending Bon Odori in KL area. My previous Bon Odori which was like 4 years back was in Penang in 2007. Time flies, and that was the time when i first met the group from Penang.

Bon Odori KL Malaysia

Here was what happened. After the event, I went straight to the Bon Odori festival and got this fan for keepsake. Not bad, a souvenir to bring back. Chin Ann tagged along.

Girls in Yukata

Greeted with the fact that there are many girls and guys here in Japanese costume. Like the above, the girls are dressed in Yukata, though I ain’t sure if they were Japanese though. As it was a Japanese festival, my first thing that came to mind is, ahhhhh FOOD. Too bad I didn’t get anything much that day as I was broke. Only had RM20 in my wallet, I could only afford this.

Unagi Don

Unagi Don for RM10

At least my stomach need to eat first before we carry on exploring the whole place. Then there was a sign board which was promoting Japanese tourism. There was even a model there for anyone who wanted to take photos or take together photos.

Bon Odori Model FOr Shoot

Of course, I don’t think that she is Japanese. People though have been saying I look more Japanese, so what happened if I were to stand side by side. That’s what I did.

BlupBlup MSD Softlaunch and Car Photoshoot Event

Posted by Daniel Chew On July - 20 - 20103 COMMENTS

Last Saturday, the most hectic Saturday of the entire year, I had an invitation to an event. Well, the story was that I got an invite from BlupBlup, which mentioned that I was invited for MSD Soft Launch and a promising Car Photoshoot Event. This was what I received in the email.

Blupblup MSD Invite

Note the part saying that there will be BMW, Porsche and also the part which says, **there might even be girls. What’s a car road show without models right? Anyway I bet most of the bloggers invited can’t wait to know what’s in store for us there.

Reached there, and met some other bloggers there, well, good to meet up with old ones and new ones.

BlupBlup Entrance

Yeap, blup-blup.com banner is there to invite us all into showroom. Ever wondered how big is the showroom?

MSD Inside Panaroma Showroom

Forgive me for the long pulled car view on the left side, was done using Adobe Photoshop’s stitching program. So far so good, only a few people were there and not many came yet. Of course each of us was given a t-shirt but somehow none of us wore them. Strange eh? I find it weird.

Yellow Porsche 911 GT3

Still, can’t stop taking photos of this Porsche. Power of UWA (Ultra Wide Angle).

Seemingly I am not so into cars as I am into computers (geek what!!!) but of course, when you see cars like that, you know it’s the real deal.

[Tibet Trip 15] Lhasa Town Free and Easy

Posted by Daniel Chew On July - 19 - 20101 COMMENT

It’s the 15th chapter of the Tibet travel log and I am sure many people are slowly getting bored with the length of this post. Why is this trip super long and unable to finish?

Reason: I was on this trip for 23 days, that explains why that there are tonnes of photos and it doesn’t seem to finish. Of course I do select photos to be displayed here.

Here’s a recap for those who missed it, the last few posts showed that I was back at Lhasa, and for foodies, the last post was all about the food in Lhasa town, Tibet. Since it was practically 2 days free and easy in the town, Ek Wei, Kenny and me went on a stroll along town to capture the beauty of it. Well maybe to me, it’s the weirdness of it.

[Tibet 1] Hello from Lhasa, Tibet
[Tibet 2] The Rough Journey Tibet
[Tibet 3] Another Day in Lhasa
[Tibet 4] Visiting Drepung Monastery Tibet
[Tibet 5] Monastery Visitation Tibet
[Tibet 6] Moving Around Lhasa Tibet
[Tibet 7] The Day I Visited Temples at Lhasa
[Tibet 8] Weird Blue Lake Tibet
[Tibet 9] Randomness at China and Tibet
[Tibet 10] More Monasteries and Mt Everest
[Tibet 11] Journey to Mt Everest
[Tibet 12] Journey to Namtso Lake
[Tibet 13] Namtso Lake Scene
[Tibet 14] Return to Lhasa from Mountains

So what else can we see at the town. Didn’t I covered that part in the beginning of the post? Well, now we walked even further as we traveled on foot and on the occasion sat in the taxi.

Golden Yak Statue

As usual the only superb landmark in Tibet is the Potala Palace and once again we go to this favorite landmark trying to capture it in any way we find intriguing.

Potala Holy Palace Tibet

Currently all photos published for this post, none got Photoshopped except resize and blog link being added. The vivid function is an overkill but at times it gets the job done.

The above is another perspective looking from the road below towards the Potala Palace in Lhasa. Then up again we go to the shooting place and paid 3 Yuan to go again.

Potala Palace Perspective

Another shot, this time aiming at the structure on the right with the Potala Palace in the background. Weird shot if you ask me. But then when we thought we’re having a fun shooting and that we’ll be the only one shooting up there, wait till you see what’s next. Other than us, there are like 3  to 5 other people shooting and one person has one of the best equipment there is there.
