Amazing how we all go through our daily life in the city, busy with our work, school work, college work and other things that get us stress. At times it is good to stroll or go for a break towards nature. Hello…. entertainment does not only come in the form of night life. So this post is so backdated but not as backdated as the one for Tibet, but here is what I want to share with you. The place I will be introducing to you is the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park situated near Lake Gardens.

It was around December 2009 and yes it was a outing for Yen and me, the weird author of this blog. Well, I could have talked about the bus ride, the stop at Petaling Street and many other instances, but as the title suggested it’s all about the bird, 鳥（とり）.

Though, of course riding on the bus (The Hop On Hop Off Double Decker Bus) brought us first to Petaling Street (China Town) and because it’s so plain in the morning, the only thing I can show you is the photo down there.

Anyway let’s go back to our Kuku Bird Park. Seemingly I have only one regret while going there with my trusty D300. I’ve forgotten to bring my Nikkor 55-200mm VR Lens. *dissapointed just like the uncle’s expression at Petaling Street*. Well, not to worry, photographers do have to learn to adapt and armed with only the portraiture Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D, I proceeded to take photos of the birds.

I will say less, just observe.

A photo of the surrounding lake area behind a man-made waterfall of droplets of water. I am sure some of you would want to know how much is it to enter this Bird Park. Malaysians, you’re in luck! If you have a MyKad with you, you get it for RM15 per entry if not it will be RM42 which is way higher. Is it worth it? To me, unlike a Zoo, if you just want to concentrate on the different species of birds and of course another attraction of sitting with the birds and posing with them, then yes, a bird park is the place to be.

I definitely love this next shot. I could say, it depicts action and life instead of just some public display to the public. Too bad I don’t have a zoom. Darn.

Of course, saying all this, being at the bird park, you get to see beautiful birds and their striking colors. Now how pretty is that. The sounds of birds singing and parrots talking. Everything is interesting. Of course, the next photo is prettier.

After all, imagine carrying that big bouquet of flowers the whole time in the Bird Park. (Eh.. I also got carry oh!)

A few days back, I received an invitation from Wacoal regarding their Sensuala Calendar Girl 2010 event. After many months and days without attending any event, it’s finally time to attend one.

You must’ve wonder, lingerie? Yes, lingerie!! There are lots of crowd over there, though the only problem was, I didn’t bring my kit lens and all I got was my 55-200mm zoom lens with no fix aperture (my 50mm was under repair). So just have to stick with it and do some shooting the best I can. I still remember the last time I came here for an event was for the Malaysian Dream Girls function. It was a surprise to me though that the emcee for the night was none other than my favorite English Radio DJ, Serena C.

Hmmm.. when I saw her it was a total different makeover from the last event which was the Cleo’s Bachelor event in Year 2008. Still as wacky as ever and funny. Though at one time she did flash the Wacoal bra to the audience. (Sorry no pictures of this you people, even if there is, I’ll keep it LOL) So that’s all for today…….. *I’ll get killed for sure* So what are the people there waiting for? Since it’s Wacoal, it’s definitely a lingerie shot. Though first we were all introduced to the girls.

I have here only 2 notable ones (or rather cause all the photos taken, the photos did not turn out well).

One thing for sure, in an event like this, it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get perfect photos with all the flash coming from left, right and with heads blocking the camera view. Though I wonder, how come were they wearing town short jeans? *strange*

You never know how interesting this event is, until you see a familiar face amongst the crowd and spectators. Who is it? Or who were they?

Conclusion : I find that though the contestants or rather the participants are so called the remaining 12 to be selected for the Calendar Girl from the mentioned 300 or 500 other hopefuls, I am sure there are better.

Well, anyway, I have to thank you Mist Club for providing the invites. Seems like I will be going more to Mist Club in the coming future.

Officially back from Indonesia (Yogyakarta – Jakarta – Bali) just 2 days ago and since I am still doing some photo processing, here’s the group that went for the trip. It’s like a place I would love to go again for more photoshoots and relaxation.

A few many weeks days back, Nikonian Academy had a 2000th forum member celebration and they held a feast and gathering for forum members. I am glad I joined the forum as I get to learn from lots of sifu and guru out there about shooting, cameras, photoshop and also how to market yourself in the camera and digital world.

Enough said, if you’re part of Nikonian, the answer to everything is shoot more pictures. So this was the day that I had my first taste of Studio Photography.

If that wasn’t enough, the rest of the participants also got to take photos of another model. Anyone knows her name?

Now how about that. Half bikini half shirt. The lightings we had in order to take these photos were excellent. Until one of the participants, David Chong decided to play along and be the male model. Boy, did we have lot of shots of him.

I must say, joining Nikonian Academy‘s classes was worth it after my first FREE class of Adobe Photoshop with Sean Liew. Anyway, towards the end of the year, I have yet to make time for other classes and with insufficient budget, I have to postphone it to another day.

Thus with all the studio lighting setup and a cool background, it’s decided that there is no need to feel shame. There is no need to bother what people thinks. There is no need to not use the opportunity. Then I made a WISE DECISION.

The smell of the sea, the sight of sun, beach and girls. This sentence reminds me of baywatch (some old series that I used to see when I was like in primary school). Well, too bad though, there won’t be any baywatch girls to see this time around. Keep it for the next visit. This time though, it’s time to revisit my past escapades to an island in Malaysia, Langkawi Island. The place known because it’s tax free.

First day upon landing at Langkawi with my flight ticket, it is as usual with a bunch of photography enthusiasts, non-stop shooting. The sky was partly right, with a bit of haze on some of the days.

It was scorching hot, but you will see many foreigners (from the west) do their sunbathing under the glorious sun. It was so bright and hot, there are even those who have their skin peeled off. Wonder how they can stand sunbathing under the sun with peeled-off skin and all the pus?

It was too hot, till no one plays at the beach volleyball court. Well, what can one expect when it’s like 11am in the morning. Most of Day one was spent taking photos of scenery, looking for a perspective to shoot. At times Daniel wished he owned a UWA (Ultra Wide Angle) lens, let’s say a 10-20mm Sigma to capture the great scene.

Having to make do with what he has, that’s the best he can offer (Well, that’s where the ads in here helps to contribute to this fund). Seemingly, being Daniel’s first time on Langkawi island, he expected the sort of island like Redang, Perhentian and Lang Tengah only to find that this island is drivable. Well, of course if one doesn’t count Penang as an island though. The sea might not be as blue, might not have load of corals but the one thing Langkawi has got to offer is the duty tax free on it’s alcohol beverages and chocolates.

Back to the point, you never know how crazy one looks at different things while taking photo of objects and things. Surprisingly, sometimes certain things which are common are such good things to shoot at. Take for example the following picture.

Yup, it doesn’t show anything it’s got to do with Langkawi, but took this just for the fun of it.

Too bad Daniel can’t really recall the name of the specific places in Langkawi, but pictures taken are meant to be shared for viewing. Of course remember to give credit where’s due.

But looking at some of these photos would not tell you what or the beauty of Langkawi. They are merely landscapes of location which one has got to experienced it on their own to see whether it was all a gimmick or not.

To say the least, this trip was made possible due to Satkuru‘s help and with the co-ordination of Jessica The Blur One. It’s already 1:43am and I am still wide awake writing this nonsensical post which actually has nothing to write about but just for looking thru the photos.

To some it’s like a different side of Langkawi. People keep relating Langkawi to beaches. Daniel instead decided why not include the whole package altogether.
