Fun at Bukit Tinggi, Pahang

Posted by danielctw On April - 16 - 2011

It was time for some recap. This time it was a day trip to Bukit Tinggi, Pahang. The blue sky was magnificent. The day was good. It was time to visit one of the nicest place to take some photos.

Bukit Tinggi

Welcome to Bukit Tinggi! That word meant Tall Hill. Weird isn’t it. I thought hills are usually tall, definitely not short. Of course at this location there are many places where one can take photos.

Below and above are the few examples which one can take with their cameras.

Inside Bukit Tinggi

Such superb place for photography. Though this is not only a scenery photo blog. It’s a personal travel blog and definitely I would love it to be more personal. So have a look at the group that had their time on this trip.

DanielCtw travels to Bukit Tinggi

Oppps… wrong one. Hahaha.. well, of course, that’s the Weird One. That’s the Takeshi….. ahemz….

Bukit Tinggi Group Photo

So we have it. The group photo that we all had fun during the time in Bukit Tinggi. Wonder who is at the back doing some Ultraman pose? That’s Jason to you. Say hello to Jimmy, WingSee, Jason, Yen and of course me. Well, imagine how was it taken? 50mm? Wide angle? Beats me. Am too lazy to look at the EXIF (that’s camera data of the photo) now.

There are many places that are good to shoot photos. Though this time with time constraint, I guessed I can deal with people photos only.

Bukit Tinggi Trip 3 People

Jason, Wing See and Jimmy. They seem to love the camera. So much…. until Jimmy finally bought a DSLR. Finally someone else being poisoned to own a DSLR. Shot with the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D (just repaired it 3 days ago as of time of writing and paid RM640 for the repairs… crap) I marvel at the sharpness.

Like I said, it’s a whole new perspective. I think so many people go to Bukit Tinggi taking scenery scenes here and there and didn’t really think what else to take with. Soooo let me show you what we did there. There was this white wall above the tower. So WHITE you just have to pose with it. Yes… I mean really.. it’s a white wall of pose.

Yen White Background

No kidding. Look at Yen smiling at the camera with the white background of the wall. Imagine what one can do with this? Definitely more than what one should do. Elevate the imagination beyond your wildest imagination.

Daniel Yen White Background

Then we posed. Ahemz… I can imagine how some people were staring at us but it sure beats renting a studio in order to shoot this shot.

Hmmm… natural poses eh.

Why am I missing these days? Well, I have been trying to start my photography portfolio site and it is still in development. Here’s a sneak peak.

There are definitely more to come but as of now, I don’t have much time to write more as by the time this post come online, I am already in or on the way to Seoul, South Korea and having a holiday and would be there for a week. So I am sure there would be more photos and trust me, this time I will definitely update it.

I will be back on April 23rd and have fun blogwalking. It’s time for a revival.

Mobile Blogging On The Go

Posted by danielctw On March - 15 - 2011

Mobile blogging for me these days doesn’t necessarily meant having to plan to go to many places and just blog and blog.

Sometimes and now a times, I find that with a mobile smart phone, the urge to blog using the desktop or laptop has surprisingly dwindle. Shucks….

No matter. Of course I can’t wait for April to arrive.

Visit to Aquaria KLCC

Posted by danielctw On March - 1 - 2011

As we know it, the world is a mystifying place. Sometimes we go to places we don’t know and sometimes we land on places we know. This time there are dangerous creatures out there, that tears your flesh if they could. Hundreds.. maybe thousands of them. They are none other than the Piranhas, the dangerous creatures.

Lucky for us, they are kept in a tank at Aquaria KLCC (public aquarium) . *Surprise*

Piranha World

Seeing a lot of PIRANHAS in the water tank and seeing them feed in an instant is like watching everything gone in an instant. Have a close look at how a piranha looks like.

Amazon Piranha

Facts about the Piranha.

An omnivorous freshwater fish that inhabits South American rivers. They are known for their sharp teeth and a voracious appetite for meat. Of course unlike the myth where piranhas will attack humans, it’s rare unless water is shallow.

Of course, when we talk about Aquaria KLCC, we always expect only water animals and life. Well, I was actually surprised to see other type of animals being displayed for the public there.

Otter Feeding

Just so happened it was feeding time for the OTTERS. It was fortunate for me to catch this in action although the lighting didn’t help. As a matter of fact, the lighting was poor so I had to make do with available light. Nevertheless, an otter in action with it’s trainer is definitely worth it.

Giant Monitor Lizard

Ain’t sure if this is a GIANT IGUANA or a GIANT MONITOR LIZARD. But love the way it looked around it’s surrounding. I am fascinated with these creatures.

Oh yeah, it just seems like a few months back they were showing “The Princess and the Frog” on cinemas. Well, a different twist from the original but still sometimes some people do believe in fairy tales. Well, this is where I can help you now if you’re actually one of them.

Meet the prince…. NO.. it’s not me!

Frog Prince Staring

It’s the FROG PRINCE. You can now reserve your name and contact number to me and I will personally deliver it myself to this prince. Who knows? Never try, never know.

Time for some major aquatic life.

Box Fish

The wandering and lonely BOX FISH, taken from above water level. In reality this fish is an aggressive fish. Believe me, because I did scuba diving and brought along fish food, this fish kept hogging the food.

Moon Jelly Jellyfish

The MOON JELLY Jellyfish is a wonder. I wonder in this world, how can something so translucent could actually be living. Weird!!! This jellyfish could grow up to a maximum size of 38cm wide. As always, jellyfishes are carnivorous, as they feed on other jellyfishes, shrimps, fishes and etc.

Of course, aquatic animals aside, this is where pretty butterflies were also put on display. This kind of thing excites Yen a lot.

Sweet Butterfly Yen

Yen: “See the pretty butterflies. I wished I could bring them all back

Ahemz…. carry on to our next aquatic animal. Harmless looking but actually dangerous.

Electric Catfish

The electric catfish. Serious!!! It could give you a jolt and like the electric eel, it is able to generate few volts to stun it’s prey. Not sure about humans though, but I am definitely not going to try. It is written that some species could produce an electric shock of up to 350 volts.

Anyway, the highlight of going into the Aquaria KLCC is definitely the underwater world where we all get to ‘swim’ amongst the aquatic life (these include sharks, murray eel, Sting Rays, Turtles, Parrotfish). Here’s how it looks like.

Aquaria KLCC Tube

All one need is to stand on the ground and let the automated floor move you along the tube. Seizing the opportunity, I thought why not have a photo of myself in this tube.

Daniel Chew Blur Shot

Ahhhh…. I got blurred out. The guy at the background got the nod instead. Guess this is what they call foreground shooting with clear background.

Conclusion:

All in all, I definitely enjoyed my time in Aquaria KLCC. The aquatic life and the sea world is what I have been missing for the past 2 years after my last scuba diving trip.

If you plan on visiting the Aquaria and you’re a Malaysian with a valid MyKad, do bring it there.

Stalker or a Fan of Blog

Posted by danielctw On February - 19 - 2011

Weird, very weird. It was a month ago that it happened. I was in the LRT on my way back home, when I suddenly got approached by someone I don’t recall at all. This was how the conversation goes. Let’s call the person AS (Ahemz… that’s short form for Aoi Sora).

Aoi Sora Wished Me
Ahahaha.. like Aoi Sora will suddenly appear!
Sidenote: By the way you can follow Aoi Sora’s twitter here.

AS: Hello
… I first was looking elsewhere then I turned sideways then I pointed to myself. She nodded...
Me: (Being polite I obliged) Oh hello.
AS: Sorry to disturb you. My name is Miko. I saw from afar you look familiar then I realized, are you Daniel Chew?
Me: Errr.. yes. I am Daniel. (Actually thinking how to react, maybe a scam or stalker.. lol) Why?
AS: Oh, it’s you. Can I take a photo with you?
Me: (Still puzzled, also just after office hours, I am a bit blur) Oh okay.
AS: Yay.. (proceeds to take out compact camera and camwhore pose) Thank you. Nice blog.

Then I saw her getting down the next station.
After like a few seconds then only I came to my senses. Oh, she knew me because of my blog. Hold on a second, wait… what just really happened? I just got recognized by someone I don’t really know. Then before I could understand anything, she just left the LRT.

Blur Daniel Chew

What a weird day that was. I was clueless and I believe I have a stalker or a fan. My mind was running backwards to think of anything. Anyway, after few seconds, I gave up (hahaha.. yes, kinda lazy to use so much brainpower after office hours) then I just take it that she’s just some blogger who happens to meet another blogger.

Well this has got to be the most random meet up for me. Wonders what will happen in the future. Weird world we live in eh?

If you people wanted the real way of how the real conversation goes with broken English (roughly composed back), then here is the brokenized version of it

AS: Hello
Me: Oh, hello.
AS: Soli ah.. kacau u. I think I see you before oh. You are Daniel Chew right? My name Miko..
Me: Ohhhh, ahhh Miko. Yes, I’m Daniel. Why oh?
AS: Ahahaha… sorry ah.. paiseh oh. Can take photo with you ah?
Me: Oh ok.
AB: *click*. Your blog very nice oh. Thank you take photo with me ah, my station reach jor lor. Bye bye.

Somehow I can’t really recall how the conversation actually really goes. Anyway if Miko is a loyal supporter of my blog, I would like to thank you for reading Weird Weird Denial. I promise will write more nicer post in the coming future. To the loyal readers of this blog, I must say I owe you people the traffic in order for my blog to be where it is now.

Thank you and by the way Happy Holidays and Happy Chinese New Year to those who celebrates.

What Do You Know About QR Barcodes?

Posted by danielctw On February - 17 - 2011

In this age and time, it looks like there are so many advances in technology. Remember how we all used to go to the Supermarket and then have a look at the time of payment, the cashier just scans a code from the product and the price is out. When I was a little kid, I found it fascinating.

Barcode Scanned Using HTC Hero

Now in this time and future, where everyone is mostly holding a smartphone, be it iPhone, Android Phones or any others, there is another barcode well known to them which what we call them qr barcodes. How does it look like?

DanielCtw QR Barcode

This is a typical QR Barcode. Using a QR Barcode Scanner, it will redirect to a link, page or a contact number. Nowadays you’ll see so many webpages and websites using QR, it’s become a normal phenomenon. The same goes for me too, this site deserves it’s own QR Barcode and if you were to try using the QR Scanner on the barcode above you will land on the home page of Weird Weird Denial. Pretty cool right?

Now don’t you wish your website has it’s own QR Barcode now?
