New Trendy Me

Trendy Or Not

Black Sleeve Shirt

If you guys know me, I am hardly someone who dresses according to the trend.

Yes, I am sometimes very old fashioned in terms of clothes and dress sense. Well, welcome to my youth time, when center parting on the hair was a thing to be admired and an IN thing.

Lately though, starting to get a bit trendy as life is ever changing. I realized I need to be somewhat different from what I used to be. Though getting to be one is also kinda hard. At least I made a point to dress a bit different from what I used to.

Now being trendy is also not just mixing and blending in with the crowd. I find that it’s also an important thing to blend well with your working life. Working has brought me to wearing more formal clothes which I haven’t been wearing since my times in college. I guessed I need to browse through some long sleeve shirts at Cavender’s western wear. Well, not to say that I won’t be trying others, but everyone starts at a certain place.

One shirt I really love is this black long sleeve shirt. Looks so mature and stylish. I have too much shirts with other colors, guessed it’s time for me to get a black one then. Yes, it’s the shirt on the RIGHT!!

Shocking Loss For BN

Posted by Daniel Chew On March - 9 - 2008

The election has ended. It was a tired night the night before, hardly getting enough sleep waiting for the results. These are the aftermath after the elections which I surprisingly mentioned about. Surprised, this year was an interesting one compared to the other previous elections. My friends overseas tend to talk about Malaysia’s election saying it’s one of the most uninteresting election to follow. But looks like these year has really shocked the whole nation and the world. With Barisan Nasional(BN) losing it’s 2/3 majority, it’s like a whole new thing.

I predicted that at least Penang and Kelantan would be gone. Surprisingly, BN maintained a foothold onto Terengganu which they won in a majority. What really happened in this part?

Party Colors

WHAT HAPPENED?

First, who would have expected that Penang and Kelantan was taken by both DAP/PKR and PAS respectively with a major landslide victory, or to some of them, like a tsunami over Barisan Nasional. I meant, previous term, Kelantan was nearly won by BN and Penang was never under threat the previous term.

Secondly, big guns are missing from the seats these time around. With faces like Samy Vellu, Dr Koh Tsu Khoon, Shahrizat all missing and losing their respective seats. The term before this has seen the opposition faced a similar defeat with Hadi Awang losing his and the term before that with both Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh losing theirs. Looks like BN now instead are on the losing end.

Thirdly, Barisan Nasional was so sure the votes are going to come in and they are even opportunistic that they would try to get Kelantan into the Barisan Nasional territory only to see it all go down to drain. The once impregnable fortress of Barisan Nasional in Johore has now been breached with one parliament seat going to the opposition. To think that the opposition has at least one parliamentary seat in all the states except in Perlis (3 Parliament Seats only in Perlis).

Finally, a takeover of at least 5 states altogether. The surprise wasn’t Penang or Kelantan with predictions that this year these states would go to them, but it was the loss of Perak and Kedah that has got the BN rolling their eyes. The worst setback was the one involving the loss of Selangor into the hands of the opposition. A major setback considering Selangor has been one of BN’s stronghold. With the losses of these states, BN was denied a 2/3 majority.

THE CAUSES

Analysis on this scenario, I will first and foremost make my reader understand that this analysis is based on word of mouth, the internet and also the observation of a Malaysian like myself. Well, the Internet is there to speak our minds, so this is where I come in too.

Previously, BN portrays a new leadership under Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi a.k.a. Pak Lah during it’s previous term. During that time, BN deserved a new high majority victory. With a new ruling and a new horse in power, many people voted for BN then. The case isn’t the same now though. The corruption is one of the main reasons. Ministers being caught for buildings, Chief Judge case and also the voices of certain parties in the parliament has all sparked some criticism from the public.

To make the matter worse, the so called minister that have been deemed guilty for not obtaining a permit has been given a lease by not getting a penalty. Now picture this, what would the voters say, fair government or just plain close one eye. The emergence of Hindraf has also brought the fall of the party. With Samy Vellu, Kayveas and his secretary both failing to win their seats, my main observation would be the involvement and handling of the Hindraf issue.

Seeing judgement as not fair in the eyes of the public, it is to no wonder that the public has created an outcry that they should vote for a change of leadership. The opposition parties though have used this to their greatest advantage garnering the votes of the voters.

I believe that the voters are angry and fed up of all the treatment the government are giving to these certain individuals. Maybe it’s time to wake up. My guess is in these times, BN would be thinking of what ever went wrong. Why did the votes shifted wind this time?

WHAT COMES NEXT?

So what comes next? With new leadership comes new responsibilities for the leaders of the acquired 5 states. The people has shown their faith in them, let’s hope they do better than what they always say they would do. In the coming 4 to 5 years, the public is the eye of these people. I believe too that BN wouldn’t sit down and look at it anymore, and enjoying their previous majority wins like ever, it’s really going to be a think tank battle.

Altogether is bound to be something new for Malaysian history. Let’s wait and observe, the people of Malaysia.
Remember it’s not the government that makes the people, it’s the people that makes the government. :)

Election and Voting in Malaysia

Posted by Daniel Chew On March - 8 - 2008

“Let the Voting Begin”

My SPR vote paper

Since I am a VIRGIN voter, I was least expecting like lots of crowd to be going for the voting session. Now now now… I meant, I had a chance to vote the last election only for me not registering myself to vote. Being a Malaysian, and because I understand politics now compared to then, I must say voting as a Malaysian is something one should be proud of. This is the time where anyone can exercise their rights and to choose the representatives of their area.

Banners Everywhere of Political Parties

It’s a 2 way battle in my place with only BN (Barisan Nasional) vs Keadilan/PAS. Whatever the result, I am actually voting them based on who they are and not the party. I mean, why vote someone who is in the party but have little credentials. So it’s a wise thing. Basically I don’t go for what party they are as long as they serve the place I live in with full of enthusiasm and no more foul play. Though my cheeky brother has another way of making his decisions.

Bro : I will vote who is the most leng zai here!!
Me : *sweats* Your way of making decision really gives me headaches.

So it’s already the end of voting time when this post hits life on the blogosphere. Like some saying says, It’s the government who should fear the people, not the people fear the government. V from Vendetta I guessed.

Seriously sometimes I wonder what it feels like being in politics. My mum always say that being in politics is dirty work, but that’s what some people say about lawyers too. Well, if I ever do get inspired to be a politician, I wonder who will ever want to vote someone who looks younger than all the people on the voting bench.

OK I Look to Formal in Here!!!

Relationship is Tough

Posted by Daniel Chew On March - 6 - 2008

What makes a relationship so easy? So you think being in a relationship is easy eh? Well, with the story lines of fairy tale stories and also with Japanese mangas and animes spoiling our thoughts all on relationships. Sad to say, all the happy endings that one see in comics, fairy tales doesn’t apply at all, and being in a relationship is not all about being lovey dovey and how nice to meet with each another.

Well, if you’re reading this and still in the studying stage, you might not agree with me, as you love company and the feeling of having someone alongside you. But but but… times change, and suddenly one day you’re out there working your ass off, trying to gain that extra moolah (money) for the benefit of your usefulness. Then in the relationship, not everything is as easy as it seems. This time being in a relationship is not about being lovey dovey and go out to super class dinners, etc. One have to be concerned about the other party as to whether this is the person who one can rely to be the lifetime partner.

There are people who contradict with me, saying, well time might change a person, but if that person has always been saying that ever since they are single and in the same relationship, I wonder if it will ever work. Take for example, how many of you have ever fulfilled some of the New Year resolutions, always wanted to learn something or achieve something which is possible but then took the long long time and some don’t even do anything about it.

Now why is relationship tough?
Now let me break down in simple simple sentences.

It is tough because you care for the relationship to grow and not just let bygones be bygones. You want the relationship to succeed, and in order to achieve that, both must have a goal for that relationship.

It is tough because taking into account your financial and status, everything in this world come at a price. You can’t expect next time to be a full time house wife(female) if the financial security isn’t enough. Don’t just wished for it, think about it instead.

It is tough because when in a relationship, people tend to overlook the little things that might affect them due to all the love they receive that when they realised it too late, love on it’s own is not going to help in sustaining the physical and material needs of a successful relationship.

Guessed time changes everything. Now we’re living in a city, a city, a metropolitan to some, of course, the cost also will increase. So it’s the truth and cruel world out there. So now you know, what can you do then. I’ve taken my step to ensure that I am well equipped in the mean time, what about you :)

Food Hungry Till Simple Food

Posted by Daniel Chew On March - 4 - 2008

These past few days, for those that follow me on my travels and adventures will know that it’s been quite a posh life. Eating and dining at specific places which sometimes might drain my positive cashflow if I keep on doing it over and over again. Well, some of the places that I ought to think back was the one in The Green Room. Yes, for a starter, The Green Room is a Japanese Restaurant, though I ain’t gonna elaborate much of it, so here’s a close shot of part of the food I’ve ordered.

Sashimi Set
The Sashimi Set, raw raw fishes

Even going to places like Soul’ed Out, nice experience, drunk that test tube margarita which was kind of like something new to me. Well, sometimes my passion to look for food and new places to eat drives me places. Even when I had my Sushi Zen a couple of months ago, yes, Japanese food which gives me flavor. I must say, most of my $$$ has gone to food and also on traveling. Even my parents has enquired me to lower down my spending power. Well, I am a slave to food and travel I guessed, but looks like something has to be done.

Sake Sashimi

There are tonnes and many more places which I have gone to eat, but of course not everything is ‘bloggable‘ as the camera is not always 24/7 around with me. Someone suggested to me a solution, is that to cut down on my food searching quest. Well, I think I might do that. But if you know me, I eat almost everytime I can find time to. Seriously, for my size, you wouldn’t have thought I have this appetite, but then I guessed I am.

Now if I don’t stop this, I will have to buckle my pants and then maybe sit on my underwear waving myself and begging on the street. I guessed I just have to rely on mamak food for now.

Mee Goreng Mamak
Yes!! Only Mee Goreng Mamak(Mamak Fried Noodle) with Bullseye Egg on Top

So there you have it, recently been eating too much mamak food, with my favourite teh tarik, kopi O, horlicks. A side effect though, I’ve been putting on weight on certain places which I don’t want to put on. Damn tummy, looks like it’s back to exercise for me!!!

ps : I guess I bore you to reading this, but it’s a motivational thingy for me!

pss : In reality, I just want to go for my next mamak session!!! Ho ho ho, just back from mamak also!!
