My New Year 2011

Posted by danielctw On January - 24 - 2011

How I spent my new year 2011? Well, not that it’s anything different. Since most people would opt to go for countdown. Well, of course, something like this could be started off with a group of people singing.

Karaoke Time

So we had singing time with me occasionally going towards the food bar and ate non-stop. I haven’t sung in ages, that my skills in throwing out my voice for a song is getting rusty. Well, hope for more karaoke sessions in the future. After that it was all about movie, food and stuffs and finally it’s the end. Funny how fast it seems. Pictures though tell a thousand words.

Baskin Robbins 31st

You would have known that on that day, it’s definitely going to be 31st. Since it’s the eve of the new year, it is bound to be 31st. So what a better way than to get 31% off for a tub of Baskin Robbins.

Of course, after that it was a few places to hang about and it was time for dinner. What better place to secure first before the crowd start gathering than at 5pm. We were lucky we got the place first.

Onion Rings Special Bubba Gump

Superb rings. Why not try to guess where this superb display of onion rings were at? Yes, it’s one of the dishes of this place. The next picture will tell you about this place. Short information, this place has whole load full of shrimps.

Bubba Gump Special Drink

Bubba Gump~~~

All in all, there are remnants of the earlier Christmas events there. So before all the ornaments, decorations, snow is gone, it’s time to take a photo.

Snowy Christmas

Seemingly, what a weird photo. The problem with using a wide angle though. Nevertheless, it tells you a story. We didn’t stay long after that. All of us left at 1130pm knowingly that it will result in a traffic jam later and multiple spray canisters of aerosol. It was a good move. We enjoyed the fireworks later.

Upcoming SCKLM 2011 – KL Marathon

Posted by danielctw On January - 17 - 2011

SCKLM 2011

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2011 is coming once again and today is the day to register. Well, surprisingly this was what DanielCtw had in mind and so on he goes to the website to register for this run.

Victory Pose After Running 21km Marathon

Still remembered how it was 2 years ago and this year will promise that he would give his best and better the time of the last KL Marathon.

So on the browser at http://www.kl-marathon.com then with adrenalines pumping, it was time to be one of the first few to register.

KL Marathon Early Registration Error

Ahhhh… not another case of overload of people registering at the same time.

Anyway here are some more special details about this year 2011 KL Marathon.

When is the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2011?
The marathon will be held on Sunday, 26 June.

Where will the marathon be held?
The start and finish point for all race categories will be around Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

What’s new in this year’s edition of Standard Chartered KL Marathon?
This year, the Organiser is preparing to host 25,000 runners. That’s a 42% increase in participation from 2010. Thus there will be some changes to starting points.

  • The Full and Half Marathon route certified by IAAF & AIMS, will remain the same meaning the start & finish area for those categories will remain at Dataran Merdeka.
  • The 10km and 5km route will have a different starting point. These routes will be finalised in March 2011 together with MAAU, FTAAA, DBKL and Traffic Police.

A new feature is postal delivery of race entry packs. Runners for individual categories can opt for postal service of their race entry pack for a fee of RM 10.00.*

Updates

Registration was successful the last time I tried. See you in SCKLM 2011. I’ve registered for the Half Marathon (21km). Please also use Internet Explorer to register. Found out it doesn’t work with my Firefox or Google Chrome.

Comic Fiesta Berjaya Times Square Dec 2010

Posted by danielctw On January - 15 - 2011

I was in Times Square. Lo and behold, I got greeted by maids. They were giving me Nips Chocolate. I was wondering what was happening? Well, of course I know.

Comic Fiesta Nips Maids

I am at the Comic Fiesta 2010. Compared to the first time I’ve gone to a cosplay event, this is the 2nd time out of nearly 8 years. Yes, what a super long time.

Comic Fiesta 2010

As usual, there are cosplayers everywhere. I was lucky to shoot some that caught my eye. Using alternately the 50mm Nikkor and the 10-20mm Sigma lenses, I caught a few shots to be shown here. This next photo caught my eye.

Cosplay Cat Ears Pink

What anime is this? Cat ears? Pink dress? Long yellow locks? I ain’t sure but this cosplayer got my attention to take those photos.

Comic Fiesta Lying Cosplay Cat

What more, she was lying down. Only problem was, I was using 50mm thus couldn’t capture the whole thing properly. How I took this photo? I went down as low as her. It would have been nicer if she had looked at my camera instead.

There are also cosplay where guys took part also. Understandably, usually they don’t stand out. Female cosplayers do. Now where’s my Mai Shiranui??? Hohohoho!!

Comic Fiesta 2010 Starwars Cosplay

I am the Star Wars Trooper. You are no match for me pitiful humans.

NEXT!!

Comic Fiesta Maid Cosplays

As usual, there are so many animes and mangas with maid costumes, sometimes I don’t know which anime they are from. I guessed I need help from the more active otakus (manga & anime kakis)  out there.

Of course, other than cosplayers, there are also figurines that are being showcased there. Since with low lighting and no usage of flash on the figurine models, I have to make do with what I have.

Comic Fiesta Doll Story

Strange and weird. Of course not all turned out like that.

Comic Fiesta Miniature Female Figurine

Love this shot. Now all I need is a different set of lens.

Back to cosplayers that really meant what they wanted to present. A group of them.

Comic Fiesta Cosplay Group Photo

WHAT ANIME is THIS? Can someone help me??? So which is the cuter one?

Comic Fiesta Cosplay Maid

More shots. Too bad I can’t get their whole attention.Of course, sometimes, I wished I could be like them, dressing anyway we wanted. It’s like releasing their stress on dressing up.

Comic Fiesta Devil Girl Cosplay

One of the sexy ones around there. A sexy devilish girl. Though the thought of seeing something like this on a girl is kind of rare in Malaysia. Definitely cool props and outfit.

Comic Fiesta Cosplay

Now which anime is this too? Wearing a corset and a wig. One of the most elegant cosplayer out there on that day. When there’s a devil there’s bound to be an angel.

Comic Fiesta Angel Cosplay

So Angel we shall. Love the lightings on this. Too bad I only have a 50mm lens. Time to save money for Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8. It is sad because only armed with a sharp lens at a range of only 50mm, it sure is hard to take full body photos. This is the best I could do though.

Comic Fiesta Witch Cosplay

A witch cosplayer. Wonder what manga or anime she is from? I am still clueless. To top it all off, we now have the photo of the volunteer group.

Girls Photo Volunteer Comic Fiesta

The 3 Nips Maid and 2 game cosplayers. Yes, the one in orange is superbly tall. Should be a good choice for Ichitaka. Hohoho…

Finally after looking at most of the cosplays I could finally recognize one. Reason: It’s final fantasy. One of my favorite all time RPG games.

Comic Fiesta Yuna Cosplay

Presenting Yuna of Final Fantasy X. Of all the cosplayers there, I think this is the cutest of them lot. Some crazy experience in this Comic Fiesta was when I witnessed a few cosplays which are girl characters but the one cosplaying them are guys. Now try to imagine, a big burly man cosplaying as Sailormoon. Now do you get what I mean? Gone is your appetite!!

Then I met Rukawa, a character from Slamdunk. Too bad this Rukawa didn’t really get the full costume. What a shame. I can tell you, Rukawa Kaede looks superbly stunning and at a loss for words. Don’t believe me, have a look at the photo displayed below.

GO GO GO RUKAWA!!!!!

Rukawa DanielCtw Yuna Cosplay

AHAHAHAHAHHA!!! Time to disappear!

Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant Singapore

Posted by danielctw On January - 11 - 2011

This post is the continuation of my escapade to Singapore during Christmas. One thing I had to try though was the taste of fine food and what a way to start with Japanese Buffet at Momiji. Lucky places were booked by my cousin that was staying in Singapore and we finally get to go in earlier than those queuing outside waiting for their turn to go and have the all you can eat offer.

Momiji Japanese Buffet

As an avid fan of Japanese food, you can wonder what I would start my feast on first. Definitely sashimi.

Picking Up Sashimi

There are oysters, salmon, prawns, tuna and whatever other sashimi one could find there. This is food haven for me. Of course, not everything was taken raw. I mean, that’s not just what all Japanese food is.

So time to indulge myself into something cooked too. Rather Half Cooked.

Oyster Prawn and Siu Mai

Oyster with Cheese, Prawn with Cheese and Xiu Mai (Chinese food???)

Though I have a complaint though. Why is this called a Seafood Steamboat?

Seafood Steamboat

All because they have 1 prawn and they call it the seafood steamboat. Pathetic. Nevertheless the soup was amazing.

There is also what we call Hot Plate dish. So off I went to get my Hot Plate (Teppan) Beef.

Teppan Beef Momiji

Photo is a little dark, but you get the point.

Fruit and Desserts Momiji

Also with the variety of fruits to clear off those toxins. There’s Dragonfruit, Honey Dew, Guava, Grapes, Jackfruit and also white chocolate dip. Savor the moment.

Finally to top it all off, this is the highlight of why eating here during dinner time is the best time. There is…….

Snow Crab & Prawn at Momiji

SNOW CRAB!!!! The sight of it tells it all. It’s definitely worth coming here to eat.

See it to believe it. Look at Yen having a go at the Snow Crab.

Yen Having Snow Crab Feast

1. Hmmm…. which one should I eat first?
2. Well, Dan which one do you think?
3. I just love the taste of the Snow crab!!
4. Ahhh… I can’t take it anymore, I am gonna have my first bite of it.

See… told ya it’s too hard to resist. Even I can’t stop eating this Snow crab after putting so much on our plate.

Daniel Chew with Snow Crab Feast

Now looky here. The Weird One DanielCtw‘s turn to pose with the Snow crabs before I finally devour all of them. Super greedy. Having 4 legs instead of 2 though.

How to eat the snow crab? All you need is to crack the joints. Then pull out the flesh from the legs and claw and then Voila!!! It’s out. Time for some crab feast.

Of course there are variety of food that I didn’t get to try as my mind was focused more onto the shashimi and the Snow Crab.

Shishamo Shioyaki\\

Food like the Shishamo Syioyaki also didn’t really get to try. All in all, the food at Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant at POMO is one of the best I tried in Singapore.

Definitely a place worth eating.
