[Movie] Sucker Punch Was Fantastic

Posted by danielctw On March - 23 - 2011

You know, I was the one who was laughing in the middle of the first fighting scenes with the samurai, when BabyDoll was using her powers. I was the one who was telling myself that this has got to be a sucky movie. It was what I first thought. Then…. whoa… I LOVE THIS MOVIE SUCKER PUNCH.

Sucker Punch BabyDoll and Amber

Okay it was not only the girls, but yes, Emily Browning (Baby Doll) is so small for her size, but that’s what makes her BabyDoll in this movie. Of course, Jamie Chung (Amber) was the only other reason I watch this movie. Well, that was what I thought so. Here’s the sypnosis of how the movie went.

Baby Doll was captured and forcefully sent to a place by her stepfather where they kept girls and train them so they could entertain their clients and hopefully be bought by the clients. It was here she met the rest of the cast which includes Amber (Jamie Chung) and co. Vanessa Hudgens as Blondie hardly play a role in this movie as she was not fit for this kind of movie, so I guess I could leave her out.

To spare you guy the details, I was at first thinking that this was a fantasy movie, only to find it wasn’t. Well sort of. I was thinking how the heck did Baby Doll transported herself into another world only to realized it was not but only a fantasy in her mind while she danced (they didn’t show the way she danced… BOO). Of course, the captives were mesmerized and from that illusion/fantasy she thought of escaping this crappy place they were kept at.

Sucker Punch Samurai

Then the story goes from there and whenever she would be dancing, we were all brought to the scene where there are robot and dragon fighting. Amidst all the fantasy, the fantasy world was shown instead because I bet that they would want this movie to be viewable by all audience. Imagine Baby Doll doing the slutty sexy dance moves and then we will have all the guys hooked up on the movie. Ahahaha!!

So after all those fantasies, it was after all a mission to get out of the place and the fantasies depicts what goes in Baby Doll’s mind while executing the plan. So instead of watching real life plans being done, we were shown fantasy. The ending kind of sad though (not gonna tell you why) but one thing this movie taught me was, “You can escape as you have the weapons”. So no matter how hard it is something is, if you have the tools and the ideas, you will be able to solve it.

Of course, how the heck I got to watch this movie? Once again, Nuffnang with their generosity gave me the chance to watch this movie due to a blog post written previously on this blog. Well, I sure love this movie SUCKER PUNCH more than I AM NUMBER FOUR. WEIRD!!!!! No it is not. Sucker Punch has a better written story compared to Number Four which only acts like super hero movie with the lame Twilight storyline.

Thank you once again Nuffnang. Also thank you in advance for the next movie which made me happy, HOP! The bunny with the candy poop. LOL

Mobile Blogging On The Go

Mobile blogging for me these days doesn’t necessarily meant having to plan to go to many places and just blog and blog.

Sometimes and now a times, I find that with a mobile smart phone, the urge to blog using the desktop or laptop has surprisingly dwindle. Shucks….

No matter. Of course I can’t wait for April to arrive.

[Movie] I am Number Four

Posted by danielctw On March - 12 - 2011

First and foremost, it has been such a long time since that I have done a movie review. Well, come to think of it, it’s been such a long time that I don’t really remember. So this time I am going to review this movie, I am Number Four.

I Am Number Four Poster

Then Why Suddenly Review This Movie?

I am sure by this time; lots of you folks out there have definitely watched this highly acclaimed movie with superb visual effects that were shown on the trailer. Well, as a matter of fact, I had my hopes not so high after the disastrous movie in the title of Dragonball : Evolution.

If you did watch the movie Dragonball, you will know how bad that movie was.

Look Ma! Shining Hands

Look Ma!!! Shining Hands!!!

Now what has Dragonball: Evolution got to do with I am Number Four?

Weird… why do I talk about a totally different movie? The Weird One proclaimed that aside the cool visual effects compared to Dragonball, this I am Number Four movie has got nicer graphics and made good use of the current technology able to movie makers.

Of course, let’s get back to Dragonball: Evolution.

Storyline was like Son Goku was trained by his grandfather. He was still young and naïve. Then his grandfather died to a monster (stupid green monster that looks like some cheap makeover) and he left and made friends and found a master. This master thought him and he slowly learned to use his power. A girl was thrown into the fray where she would be the love of his life. Then in the end, Goku would finally defeat Piccolo (yes.. that is what they called that green monster) and he and the girl would live happily after that.

Now you got the picture. Young and naïve + girl + acquire power + defeat bad guy + WIN!!

Similarly, I am Number Four is as a matter of fact, similar. Someone who grew up and found out he has powers and then worked together with a friend to finally defeat the evil guys. Of course, a girl was thrown into the mix up.

Storyline was too predictable (Dragonball was based on a comic adaptation so it’s understandable) and why the heck they have got to throw a female character to be his love. They should only exist in female novel kind of movies like Twilight. Seriously action packed movies shouldn’t even have them. It’s a movie sin to have them. Imagine all the fighting and then some weak human jumps into the fray and the fighting goes all soft. Imagine in an action movie, there’s only like 15 minutes of action.

Original I am Number Four Poster

So what else should I look for in the movie?

Okay, it’s not all that bad. For those who do not mind spoilers, prepare to go awwwww at the cute dog in the movie. I have a soft spot for canines but overall I would rate this movie only good for it’s visual effects but other than that, a low point from me.

Of course, this movie just reminds me of Sylar from the Heroes series (wonders whatever happened to the series?). You’ll understand once you watch this movie.

From a rating of 10, I will give this movie a rating of 4. Good cinematic effects. Lucky it wasn’t all Twilight here or I’ll give this movie a 1 out of 10. Of course, if Sora Aoi is the movie, then it would have been a 10 (yes… it doesn’t matter how bad the movie is as long there’s Sora Aoi).

Anyway thanks to Nuffnang and Churp Churp, I still get to watch this movie for free and also had a short chat with Timothy Tiah after the end of the movie. Good to see you there, Tim.

Visit to Aquaria KLCC

Posted by danielctw On March - 1 - 2011

As we know it, the world is a mystifying place. Sometimes we go to places we don’t know and sometimes we land on places we know. This time there are dangerous creatures out there, that tears your flesh if they could. Hundreds.. maybe thousands of them. They are none other than the Piranhas, the dangerous creatures.

Lucky for us, they are kept in a tank at Aquaria KLCC (public aquarium) . *Surprise*

Piranha World

Seeing a lot of PIRANHAS in the water tank and seeing them feed in an instant is like watching everything gone in an instant. Have a close look at how a piranha looks like.

Amazon Piranha

Facts about the Piranha.

An omnivorous freshwater fish that inhabits South American rivers. They are known for their sharp teeth and a voracious appetite for meat. Of course unlike the myth where piranhas will attack humans, it’s rare unless water is shallow.

Of course, when we talk about Aquaria KLCC, we always expect only water animals and life. Well, I was actually surprised to see other type of animals being displayed for the public there.

Otter Feeding

Just so happened it was feeding time for the OTTERS. It was fortunate for me to catch this in action although the lighting didn’t help. As a matter of fact, the lighting was poor so I had to make do with available light. Nevertheless, an otter in action with it’s trainer is definitely worth it.

Giant Monitor Lizard

Ain’t sure if this is a GIANT IGUANA or a GIANT MONITOR LIZARD. But love the way it looked around it’s surrounding. I am fascinated with these creatures.

Oh yeah, it just seems like a few months back they were showing “The Princess and the Frog” on cinemas. Well, a different twist from the original but still sometimes some people do believe in fairy tales. Well, this is where I can help you now if you’re actually one of them.

Meet the prince…. NO.. it’s not me!

Frog Prince Staring

It’s the FROG PRINCE. You can now reserve your name and contact number to me and I will personally deliver it myself to this prince. Who knows? Never try, never know.

Time for some major aquatic life.

Box Fish

The wandering and lonely BOX FISH, taken from above water level. In reality this fish is an aggressive fish. Believe me, because I did scuba diving and brought along fish food, this fish kept hogging the food.

Moon Jelly Jellyfish

The MOON JELLY Jellyfish is a wonder. I wonder in this world, how can something so translucent could actually be living. Weird!!! This jellyfish could grow up to a maximum size of 38cm wide. As always, jellyfishes are carnivorous, as they feed on other jellyfishes, shrimps, fishes and etc.

Of course, aquatic animals aside, this is where pretty butterflies were also put on display. This kind of thing excites Yen a lot.

Sweet Butterfly Yen

Yen: “See the pretty butterflies. I wished I could bring them all back

Ahemz…. carry on to our next aquatic animal. Harmless looking but actually dangerous.

Electric Catfish

The electric catfish. Serious!!! It could give you a jolt and like the electric eel, it is able to generate few volts to stun it’s prey. Not sure about humans though, but I am definitely not going to try. It is written that some species could produce an electric shock of up to 350 volts.

Anyway, the highlight of going into the Aquaria KLCC is definitely the underwater world where we all get to ‘swim’ amongst the aquatic life (these include sharks, murray eel, Sting Rays, Turtles, Parrotfish). Here’s how it looks like.

Aquaria KLCC Tube

All one need is to stand on the ground and let the automated floor move you along the tube. Seizing the opportunity, I thought why not have a photo of myself in this tube.

Daniel Chew Blur Shot

Ahhhh…. I got blurred out. The guy at the background got the nod instead. Guess this is what they call foreground shooting with clear background.

Conclusion:

All in all, I definitely enjoyed my time in Aquaria KLCC. The aquatic life and the sea world is what I have been missing for the past 2 years after my last scuba diving trip.

If you plan on visiting the Aquaria and you’re a Malaysian with a valid MyKad, do bring it there.
