Back to Running and Training

Posted by Daniel Chew On September - 28 - 2009

After what seemed to be at least 2 months of no running, I realized it’s time to get back into the habit. Especially when during this time around it’s toward the year end. Presumably, it’s been just a few days back I was just back from my tiring and awesome trip in Tibet, so what should I say. I lost about 5kg in just those 25 days and I’ll be aiming to get back into shape.

Looks like more protein shake for me. Those who have been following knows that I’ve started running marathon this year, and indeed I won’t stop until I achieved a certain position. It all began on my first run which was at the Wild Wild Run in Zoo Negara.

Tired Face of Daniel in Wild Wild Run 2009

Seriously in this photo, I look like SHIT. I am super pale and was wondering why did I take up such a sport? I was torturing myself and after finishing the race, realized that I was the last person in my category to finish it (not counting the small young boy participating with his dad). So it sort of demoralize me at that time. Though crossing the finish line and met up with someone whom I have known since the forum days was a little bit encouraging.

Wild Wild Run 2009 Finish Line

The sweat all over my t-shirt. Haven’t had a running vest then. At least Vin was there and from then on, I thought there was no turning back. I have to at least don’t get last in a race. The never say die attitude of me is starting to come out. After little practice and stuffs, I decided to start running other running events, which a few notable ones was the BHP Orange Run which I did a better time than the Wild Wild Run by a mere 10 minutes. Notably, those runs were all within the 10km mark.

Dropping By Cat City – Kuching

Posted by Daniel Chew On September - 26 - 2009

Small Talk
I a proud to be a Malaysian, but am not proud of certain things like this happened

I am a traveler, a blogger, a software developer, but most importantly I am Daniel Chew from Malaysia. The picture sums it all.

Thumbs Up Hainan

No no no.. I am not in Hainan Island now. LoL. Though I would love to visit there some day. As a matter of fact, I am in Kuching doing my rounds and for leisure and most importantly to visit dearest Yen who is currently there. Huh? What do I meant by saying that? You’ll get the picture of it slowly.

There are many places I visited in Kuching. Though that will have to wait for awhile. One thing I am glad is that while in Kuching, even though Yen was sick but she still brought me around Kuching. So “cham” for her that it has to happen. No trips to the beach were made.

I’ve always thought that Kuching is called for it’s name to mean Cat. Yes, in the Malay language, Kuching means cat, but somehow there was like a slight mistake when I saw this bizarre looking thing.

Dragon in Kuching

There’s a dragon in Kuching? Yen was so amazed at the big mouth of the dragon, she decided to do her own version. Hee… opps. But indeed the dragon thingy was really intriguing that I got to see it for myself. Why did Yen opened her mouth so big. I decided to have a closer look. What I saw was~~~~ something~~~ WEIRD!

Danielctw saw a dragon

The dragon has a big mouth but a small body. Looks more like a crocodile. What is it actually in fact? I’ve forgotten but I think it was an outlet for water to rush through. Hmmm… Yes, I know I look like a China tourist with that white hat. At least it protected my ears from the sun rays.

I was a fan of old Malaya history during my secondary school days that I took part in History quizzes for my class. Yes, I was interested in History!!! (Actually cause I didn’t want to lose to my school friend in terms of subjects LOL) Coming to Kuching reminds me of the name Brooke. Definitely not Brooke Shields, but James Brooke, Charles Brooke and Charles Vyner Brooke. Though amazingly something else caught my eye, just so happens on a very special day and date, Charles Brooke was declared the 2nd Rajah of Sarawak.

Currently in Chengdu

Posted by Daniel Chew On September - 21 - 2009

Yes, it’s me again after a long lapse and disappearance from the Internet world. Why did I disappear? Not that I want to, but it’s because I don’t have Internet access after the 6 or 7 days drive from Lhasa all the way to Chengdu. There are many many things which I’ve experienced during that long hours of driving and sitting in the jeep. There are many road blocks, check points, countless scenery and lots of other weird and crappy things.

Though I wouldn’t want to fit it all in this page, as a matter of fact, I will divide my purpose of writing in this blog as to purely funny and weird experiences with some gathering photos. The full part of my trip will be put on to another blog as to not make this blog a travel log instead. So prepare for the whole new experience and a whole new interface for the new blog which I will announce shortly after doing some major changes. There might also be a short competition and interaction for readers to play with.

Chengdu I didn’t get to take any nice photos but I’ll be back to Chengdu once I booked the new flights from AirAsia with their new flights to Chengdu opening in October 2009. When will that be? I ain’t sure yet.

So how long more till I am back in Malaysia? Beats me. Depends on the weather and the vehicle and the road. So what do I do now? Keep blogging with words? Not really, just that didn’t have the photos to blog now. Till next time.

ps : Blogspot, Twitter, Facebook is blocked here in China. So that’s why I can’t visit other blogs. Take care over there people. Can’t wait to access these applications too.

Blog In Error Again

Posted by Daniel Chew On September - 13 - 2009

A few days ago, or rather 3 days ago. This blog Weird Weird Denial and it’s other blog owned by the owner Daniel was down and thus it badly affected my ads network and also to readers who read the entries here.

In this time of trouble, I was actually wondering why does this has to happen when I am overseas, somewhere internet access is very scarce and not able to check all the time. Lucky that one of my friends who came along with me to Lhasa, Tibet, China brought a laptop and I was able to fully diagnose the problem due to a preliminary check up by Exabytes. Though what I did was to modify the .htaccess to include the missing parameters.

I am glad that it was all sorted out.

UPDATES

Anyway here’s a glimpse of what the only thing nice to shoot at Guong Zhao. I am not able to update properly due to this isn’t my own PC or laptop so this is the best I can offer right now. I hope that you all will be able to stand my short short glimpse of updates until the time I am back in Malaysia which is about 22nd of September 2009, which is the 2nd day of the Hari Raya Puasa holidays.

Night View at Guong Zhao

If you’re wondering how I look right now, let’s say I can tell you that I have left a beard and mustache grew for 1 week, which makes me hairy. But once back to the hotel in Lhasa, it is all gone now and me being young again.

I have an idea or rather a different perspective, now I am thinking of shifting this blog to a new domain. Considering Google has penalised this with no page rank, I’ve decided in the coming future to start writing my travel logs in another whole new blog with a whole new identity. How’s that?
