Hunting Creepy Crawlies

Posted by danielctw On January - 12 - 2008

This is not your typical post. So I must warn readers who wants to read this and if you can’t stand creepy crawlies, please do not click the More tag. Yes, due to the nature of this post, I have beforehand issued this warning, but I think seriously since if it’s not gonna bother you at all, the carry on ahead! It’s also the time where I can also learn all about the species too.

Well, going to places let’s you explore the wonderful weird realm of creepy crawlies. What better places to find this weird areas than to go to those tropical forest, and even at home! Snap snap snap!! All the way!

Well, but there is one insect I don’t like. It keeps on biting me whenever I am at the farm. Yes, I do go to the durian orchard and this insect is pretty annoying. See what it did to my hand!

Mosquito Bites

Just one afternoon and that’s how I got those bites. Seriously, if you do get bitten, try not to scratch it or it’ll be bigger. Yes, just try to live with the bites and it’ll subside. Better still, prevent yourself by putting on mosquito repellant cream. :P That’s all?? No there’s more. Click the Read More link!!

On second thought!!! Screw it, just let the picture out, until someone complains, then I’ll put back the READ MORE tag again!

PhotoHunt 92 Skinny

Posted by danielctw On January - 11 - 2008

PhotoHunt

This week’s theme really tempted me to post my own photos. Haha.. but I don’t want to make you people choke on the food. Well, so I decided to be a nature lover, well I’ve been traveling so I’ve got more photoshoots of sceneries than others.

So what do I have here??

Skinny Tree in the background

More like showcasing the clouds, but this one tall skinny tree. No alteration of colors. It’s what I took as it is! I bet other people are much more creative than me.

Since there was a request. here’s a shot of me in Year 2001. I know, I was too skinny back then. Hehehe…

For those who treasure photographs, here’s a chance for you to take part too.

Xiao Fei Yang

Posted by danielctw On January - 10 - 2008

This post has been in my mind after a long time I didn’t checked my phone for photos. Yes, sad to say my mobile phone is the only other alternative if I don’t go out with my gadgets. Well, so armed with my Samsung D510 with a minimum specs of 1.2 MP camera, it’s time for some food review.

Xiao Fei Yang Steamboat

Well, me and a few friends decided to try something different. Steamboat at a place called Xiao Fei Yang. Ok sad to say it’s non-halal, so sorry for those who are muslims this round. Basically 小肥羊 means Small Fat Goat, so of course the dish of the day was goat meat.

To say it was a meal unsatisfied, it’s so so wrong. Well I am trying to get my seconds next time. What’s so different is that they have 3 type of soup to go along with it. There are the Normal, Very Hot and Herbal soup. Of course we chose the Herbal and the so called Very Hot.

Boost in Photography

Posted by danielctw On January - 9 - 2008

I am still considered a newbie in my photography skills, well, seemingly previously I bought my Nikon D40 all for the sake of travelling to Perth, Australia and since my old compact camera (Casio Exilim Z750) is giving me problems with it’s blurry shots (in the first year this camera was awesome, pictures are clear).

Now what is the deal here?? Yes, haven’t been checking my flickr account previously but then I just realized that I had an email in my inbox. Here’s the email!

Schmap: Perth Photo Inclusion

Well, sort of. Though I know I am still a newbie that time. Been hanging out with other people these days to get that good photos. Manual mode is indeed mesmerizing. Well these photos I’ve posted in this blog somewhere around here
and also in this instant too. If you haven’t seen them, it was my trip to Perth.

Now this has generally created a small boost for me. So what am I going to get next?
SB-600 vs SB-800
SB600 vs SB800

Which should I get? I prefer speedlights over lenses for now. Yes, I only have my kit lense only! Dang, I really need to save! People I need opinions. Badly…

IP Protect Yourself

Posted by danielctw On January - 8 - 2008

You know before I added ShoutOut live chatbox, I was using another live chatbox back then in my blog. The only thing though was that this other chatbox has this IP log and it’s displaying it out at the open. I mean, if it’s private I got no issue about it. Imagine seeing your IP displayed as 60.45.65.xx widely to the public.

My Experience Server Hacked

Example Of Hacked
Example of a Hacked System

I got hacked before on my own server which is the reason why I chose to blog in a secured server. Anyway here are some help to deter hackers from discovering your IP address. One of the ways is by going through a proxy, yes, it seems like double protection. Well, too bad though sometimes I am just lazy to find a proxy for me to connect.

Any Other Solutions

Then I found out another solution. I am sure most of you realized what a wonderful browser Firefox is. For me I use Firefox to debug my blog codes and stuffs with it’s firebug function. Anyway how the heck to hide IP address? Well if you’re following the link at http://www.hide-my-ip-address.com/, instead of just Firefox for the normal daily protection, this browser is a modified version of Firefox. From what I found out instead of using a proxy, this browser will go through two ultra-secure, ultra-fast anonymous servers. So it’s just like a proxy, only that this time I can say it’s a triple protection. Hahaha… though of course security comes at a price.

For now I guessed if you think you needed more security than normal, I would advise to spend a few bucks to get that needed IP security browser. :P
