Yes, it seems that suddenly the Page Rank thing has affected a lot of people, and some are hitting it back at google. Yes, during those times it was seen as if you have lower page rank, your site visits will falter. Thus it was a very important issue back then.

Seriously with all the recent updates on Google Page Rank, it’s also pretty reassuring that visitors don’t drop because your Page Rank dropped, more over it seems to rise due to the ever increasing attention about this Page Rank calamity.

What have the Page Rank done to me?

It might seem that I am currently at a negative end, with my Page Rank still at a N/A stage while my other blog only merely obtaining PR2 from a PR3 downgrade. Well, it sure is a pity if you’re still doing paid post and yes I do feel a bit sad that I have just a few mere opportunities to grab for the low PR.

Well, considering though, this have brought me to talk more on the internet hype and understanding. Though I also sensed that in all due aspect, because of this recent Page Rank update, I am doing more research on the Internet regarding this issue. So where do I go from now?

Some might have noticed, I took out WidgetBucks from my site due to the hidden link behind the Flash animation. If you don’t believe me, try checking out google for WidgetBucks. Some site speculated that it happened because of the WidgetBuck TOS requiring users to link to them. Hmm… a wonder.

Before this, entries in this blog and even comments can only be written in English. Yes, sometimes it pains me to know that I can’t type certain words in chinese characters on danielctw.com due to the limitations.

Yes, when I was reviewing a song title by Jolin Tsai, I wanted to type in Chinese but due to the character encoding, I went and search for the solution to this. I have received emails from readers who wanted to write something in Chinese or Japanese character comments that they don’t have the means to do that. Yes, it was after I upgraded to WordPress 2.2 from 2.1 that I faced this problem.

Anyway I am going to share with you guys how to incorporate chinese, japanese or even korean input that can be displayed on your wordpress blogs.

Using the UTF-8 Database Converter, instead of manually changing it from the php itself, this is one of the easiest and fastest way to handle. Steps are simple.

Attention: This plugin it only can be used and activated by the ‘blog owner’ or any user with level 10.

1. Open the file `wp-config.php` set `DB_CHARSET` to `utf8` and leave `DB_COLLATE` with nothing. (Just for WordPress 2.2.x)
2. Upload `UTF8_DB_Converter.php` to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory.
3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
4. Go to the sub menu called ‘UTF-8 Database Converter’.
5. And just follow the instructions on the screen.

Now steps are laid out pretty easy.
For testing purposes here are the numbers 1 to 10 written in Chinese.

Yes, it might seem a little weird, but yes, Google some how messed with the PR of sites and looks like most of them are seeing their PageRank dropped instead of going up.

It’s a wicked thing. I mean my previous blog of danielctw.blogspot.com dropped from PR3 to PR2.

I was like shocked to see their sites dropped in PR. Well, don’t know whether it was a bug or some kind of error in the Google network themselves. But just hope that it was just a feisty bug happening. Well, if there are any news on the new PR update, I’ll have it up in a jiffy.

For some after looking through a few sites, some has suggested that Google has indeed started a war amongst site that sells Paid Links. Well, those who have done PPP, Smorty, etc might be facing this ever excruciating problem.

One thing though, aside from those sites having their PR dropping, it doesn’t seem likely for other sites which doesn’t do paid post also having their Page Rank dropped before their eyes.

Looks like it’s still in the hot soup as to whether this new Page Rank algorithm is something still in testing period. Many have voiced their concerns over this issue with me on MSN Messenger. Yes, it really seems like a big hoo-haa coming just from Google itself.

With the speculation going on about PR was dropped due to paid post for selling out paid links, maybe it’s time that all blogs will have to like kill the desire to do paid posting. Google has indeed gives us too much thing to think.
